Hello GC! First time on here and a new grower. This first seed has been great. I've grown my plant short due to my limited space. I have a 2x2x4 tent with a galaxyhydro 300 watt led light along with 6, 23 watt cfls. Currently I'm starting week 2 of flower but havent noticed a huge spike in growth. My plant is currently about 8 inches from soil to the top of the canopy, and about 18 inches wide. I left my plant in veg for about 11 weeks. My question is, should I have let the plant grow taller or would it not make a difference in the yield? Theres a ton of bud sites (I count around 34). Also, Today I dropped my fan while repositioning it and split the main stem down the center where I topped it. I pulled it together and taped it back. I didnt kill half my plant did I?
Hahahaa! Yes I’ve done that exact same thing to one of my plants, and i tied it back together. She stayed alive and bloomed wonderfully, it is a terrible heart break when it happens but she will pull through. I have hope for her. Also the way you are growing your plant is perfect! Its a Beautiful little plant. Flower her right away and enjoy. On a side note, what are you feeding it? Out of curiosity. Cheers N Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you for the reply. It's a huge relief to hear that she will live. I about had a heart attack when it happened. I'm using fox farm ocean forest soil and giving her GH floragrow, floramicro, and florabloom. The instructions say to give 1 tsp of fg, 2 tsp of FM, and 3 of fb per gallon but I only feed her about a gallon of that every 6 days (half gallon of nutrient water the first day, 3 days later half gallon of just water, then 3 days later another half gallon of nutrient water. Then repeat.) It seems to be working fine but I feel like it's taking forever to grow. Lol
This will teach you everything you need to know about cannabis feeding, or at least a lot more than i can write. Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In some ways yea but if you have a look around on here and other forums you’ll see that lst them small but bushy gets you a very good yield Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
looking good. with your set up veg them 1 foot tall. max yield my opinion. any taller is pointless your set up you will have to lolly pop them anyways. they will finish 2.5 foot total.
Im with you mate. I like my plants short and bushy. Definately gets a better yield than lankys. Profile pic pulled 600g and was only 26" tall by the end. Sent from my SM-J330FN using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Spanish@rcher 600g! Man I hope mine gets half that. Lol it's a high yielding strain though so hopefully it will. I'm excited to see what she gives me.
That's my problem. I'm a week and a half, 2 weeks into flower. I freaked out last night when it happened and I cant check on it yet today cause my lights dont come on until 7pm.
A little update. Shes doing great! Still really short with not much stretch that ever happened. Shes currently on day 22 of flower and looking really frosty. I've come to the conclusion that I'm probably not going to get any huge colas. Instead I'll probably get a bunch of little colas, unless yall think itll do something I'm not expecting. I know shes still got a long ways to go and I'm proud of her right now just seems like everyone's plants I see getting massive colas dont have a ton of bud sites. Mine has 54 that I count in a 19 inch diameter area and not even a foot tall.
Yeah some plants will do that, especially if its shocked or stunted.. even if its toped a bunch that will happen. But no worries! Shes looking gorgeous! Great job! N Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have you thought about growing SOG style? IMO, that is the best method in limited vertical space situations like yours. You would maximize your harvest if you were to put clones in 2-L bottle pots and cram as many in your space as possible. Flower them immediately as soon as the clones are rooted, no veg time. If you do well, you will average around 12 to 15 grams per plant. If you do poorly you should average 5 to 8 grams per plant. My guess is that that would be a huge increase in yield over what you're currently getting trying to grow a smaller number of plants very short and bushy. Of course, this works a lot better if you have a strain or pheno that tends to want to grow into one main single stock. You can use this tool to figure out how many 2-L pots you could fit in your space. 2-L pots are 4.5 inches in diameter. Circles within a Rectangle
You’re doing great for your first grow man. I like seeing the new guys be creative with their situations. I too had a height requirement for a very large plant in veg so I transplanted into a 24” x 36” concrete mixing tub of super soil and flowering under scrog. If you want bigger colas, you have to let them grow up. Scrogging breaks apical dominance too often and makes a lot of smaller buds, which will increase yield. I’m hoping to pull 3/4 of a lb from this with only 240 watts of qbs
I have thought about it but havent really given it much thought because I'm not in an area where buying clones is possible so I would have to grow a mother to take from just to chop her up into pieces to replant in the same area that she is growing in. I feel like that's just a waste of time but like I said, I am new to all this so if that would work better than just growing the mother I'll try it on my next grow.
Thanks it means a lot. I've spent an ungodly amount of time coming up with solutions to issues I have ran into, which has taught me a lot, but i keep modifying what i have done.
