I don't know where to post this but Philosophy seems correct.

I was just thinking on a wimb... about how smoking cannabis really "enlightens" your values, beliefs, and basically way of life (well, it did for me). Over all the inhaling I have done I have thought about so much and honestly felt enlightened since hit 1.

We all know about the 18th century enlightenment that swept the world and caused everybody to question customs, morals, science, etc... Leading to the overthrow of governments.

With that being said I began thinking (completely sober I may add) about the Modern day movement or growth in popularity of Cannabis use. It has just become so universal. I feel like marijuana is beginning to influence more and more peoples values, beliefs, etc... It is "enlightening" them. In no way am I saying we are going to start revolutions or anything (if anything be peaceful haha :smoke:), but more changing the way we do things in every day life, politically, etc... I feel like by the time a new generation is in power this will start to show more and more.

So do you feel cannabis is a modern day enlightenment? Or am I just thinking ridiculously?

  2. Cannabis definitely opens your mind and gives you a much more interesting perspective on life. But weed alone isn't enough. Weed will open your mind and will get you started, but it's when you're sober that you make real progress.

  3. I'd say movements which promote freedom, truth and openness are perhaps a modern-day "enlightenment". Of course, the MJ movement may be a sub-category in all that, but I wouldn't say it's what will change the face of humanity.

  4. Weed has been used for Spirtual purposes dating back 4737 years ago and that is only the first recordings. It has been enlightening people for ages my friend but true enlightenment comes from effort from within.

This is more what I was trying to say... But once I started smoking weed my mind truly started opening up, although now I quit smoking but I would still say it had it's affect. I'd say it went hand in hand with maturity but I can say my mind has truly been opened up in a positive way now... when I'm not high.

  6. Yea exactly. Same with me. I don't smoke now but it definitely played a major role on my path and helped form who I am today.

    - peace, joy, love, and light

  7. if you smoke and expect change, you might recive it.

if you smoke to get fucked up, you might just get fucked up.

guess which one has the most support

  8. I would go with the latter of the two; but when people change I feel it can be for the better.

  9. My ENTIRE argument for the decriminalization/legalization of marijuana stems from the idea that if people are against it, you gotta be against it because you don't think humanity would benefit from it... i hate how SO MANY people turn their cheek to pot because of negative connotations and just shit they read or hear on the news....

it's ridiculous, this should be the enlightenment...

  10. For sure, man. Weed's like the motor - once you smoke it, you've turned it on, but now it's up to you to drive.
