{Please do not move this, moderator.} I'm sorry but this doesn't go under the Recreational MJ Use forum:Forum on the various methods of marijuana use. Share your methods to enjoy the herb. Bongs, Pipes, Joints, how do you smoke it? *RMJL Did your taste in music change when you first started smoking? How so, or do you think inner revelation you got from pot has change the way you appreciate music? Also, check out this link about the Beatles first started smoking, It's a really good stoner story, and the fact that its about quite possible the greatest rock bands of all time. http://www.hempfiles.com/various/beatlespot.shtml {I don't think this is a competitor of grasscity.com, but I could be wrong.)
totaly dude, at first i disliked floyd and the other great rock bands such as the beetles, but once i started token, omg thats all i listen to nowe and floyd is my favorite band of all time, totaly man totaly
Trance?? i dont know if thats really the category floyd falls into. but either way, theres nothing better than getting ripped, and going downtown to see the laser show to the wall, or wish you were here
laser show to the wall sounds kinda lame, just watch the movie. DSOTM to a laser show when you high is fucking incredible.
first heard the wall album, when i was 13-14, and that was like 13-14 years ago, and i loved them then, but with weed added as well, i soon found Zep as well............music just seems that bit better...........Peace out.........Sid
I used to listen to a bunch of metal and stupid crap like that... in the months after smoking, my music taste went completely the other direction. I listen to stuff like Phish, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Natty Nation (small reggea band from around here), the Dead, and others. Oh, and the Beatles are a load of shit. They are the epitome of popcultured music. Their lyrics and music were not impressive or talent-worthy. I give them no credit. The Rolling Stones started out before or around the same time as the Beatles, and they are a hell of a lot more talented in every element than the Beatles could ever wish to be. Take a look at the Rolling Stones' career and the evolution they put into their music. I mean, compare albums like Emotional Rescue, Sticky Fingers, Beggars Banquet, and Tattoo You. Not very many bands can evolve like that.
wow, what beatles albums have you listened too? they were all friends with the rolling stones (mick jager was at the live "all you need is love" brodcast, he smoked a joint sitting next to them and got a fine for it after the cops watching tv realised what it was). you may not like them but they were damn influential and they did evolve a lot. listen to their works starting at rubber soul. thats when they stopped being pop music and started being themselves. they weren't the first rock band, but they were one of the biggest. compare rubber sould to revolver, albums that were released in under a year of each other. their style evolves so much in there. dislike them all you want, but don't say the didn't do shit and didn't evolve.
the Beatles were the first band to invent the "Bridge"......and also they invented the footpedals as well, your overdrives, distorts etc..........they were at the forefront of music making, and even experimented with microphones, and coke bottles, to get diffrent sounds...........i mean how can a stoner who loves Floyd, and the Stones, not like an album such as "Abbey road"............with such mellow tunes as "here comes the sun", and my fav Beatles song of them all, wrote and sang by Harrison..."Something" the Beatles were also the first band to make their own record label, so as more of the profits went to the bands, and not big corporate companies. i love Floyd, the stones and the Beatles..........as well as a lot of other bands from that time, i love Jefferson Airplane, CCR, .............etc i know everyone has a diffrent opinion on musical taste, but to say that the Beatles "were not impressive or talent-worthy"...........is just wrong. Peace out........Sid
don't forget about backwards recording, they started that too with rain, and then perfected on i'm only sleeping.
Bah humbug. Sorry, I get carried away sometimes when I let my beef loose on The Beatles (and Metallica and Nirvana). I guess I do have to give the Beatles some credit, but I dont give them all the credit. I mean, shit, take a look at Bob Dylan and The Doors. They both started the same time as the Bealtes. Both Dylan and the Doors had just as huge of an influence, but just not on the popculture. The Doors' first two albums, "The Doors" and "Strange Days", were masterpieces in many elements, and "The Soft Parade" is hailed for its genius music make up.
i have listened to pink floyd since i was a baby, rock and roll was all i listened to since i was young, then about 13 i started listening to heavy metal!
Dylan had a huge influence because he spoke his mind and showed how important and vital folk music could be. He also brought folk and rock together. As for the Beatles, no band can compare. The Doors did not begin when the Beatles began. The Doors began oround 1966. The Beatles began around 1960. And the Beatles released like 15 albums in America between the years 1964 and 1970! That is insane! Plus, you have to put it all in retrospective historically! Look at what was before the Beatles - NOTHING! Elvis was in the Army, Buddy was dead. Music was being ruled by the Justin Timberlake and Ricky Martins of the Day - Fabian, Pat Boone, Frankie Avalon. Imagine being a 13 year old kid in 1964 and seeing the Beatles - four young men who all played their own instuments! They all sang! They wrote their own music! This had never happened before. More then any other band the Beatles caused many a youngster to get his parents to buy them that first guitar thus providing the fuel for generations to come!
hey no need to appologise, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and i love the Doors too, and Dylan.........it was only the bit where you said they deserve no credit. when i was in NY the bus tour guide passed by the Daydona bulidings, and he said, "i guess most people either like one or the other, i like the other, so this doesn't hold as much weight with me, but it most certainly would any Beatles fans" your not the first, nor will you be the last that preferrs one to the other. Peace out........Sid
to say that the beatles' music didn't evolve is a crime against humanity.. compare "ticket to ride" to "strawberry fields forever" or "i want to hold your hand" to "i am the walrus".. in fact i hate the old beatles from before rubber soul.. except for their first song "cry for a shadow"..
Dude, I meant that Dylan spoke his mind in his lyrics. He may have led a secretive lifestyle but he sang what he felt and stirred the pot many times.
I liked nu-metal before I started smoking. Now I look back and see what a tool I really was for liking that shit. Smoking definately turned me on to classic rock, especially Floyd. They're my favorite band now.
personally, I don't think of floyd as a very good band and it didnt change wen I started smoking. That's just my opinion though. I never got into them and don't think they're that talented.
