Using General Hydroponics pH Up/Down and I'm having to use massive amounts to get my pH down to 5.5-6.0 range. I mean like literally 1/12th of the bottle to do this for one tank, I've stopped leveling pH until I get this solved because I'm afraid I could damage my plant by putting so much in. I'm using filtered water from my fridge right now which normally sits at 7.5 and goes up to 8.5 after putting nutes in. I have this same problem with pH down when also using distilled water/nutes. Any help would be appreciated!
Very strange that your nutes make the ph go up.. every nute I've used make a the ph go down. I use a fair amount of ph up as a result.
What are you using to measure the pH? If it's an electronic probe you might need to re calibrate it Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I use the same stuff, How big is your tank? I ph down 6lts at a time and it takes roughly 5ml to drop it by 1
If it's the one with the blue screw driver it prob needs to be calibrated. It's worth it to buy a 75$ self calibrating ph meter and check it every time you use it. (This is what I do. You do what you want.) Have a dank day haha Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
The £10 one, I use the same too .. I'm on my third, they don't like being dropped and fully submerged lol. But yes what matey above said, recalibrate! I don't know what Throws them off but I've had to a couple times. It should of come with 6 sachets which lets you calibrate twice without buying more. Also maybe check off date maybe you got unlucky with an old batch. This stuff is strong as shit, so yeah I'd be worried about useing a 12th every time expecially with that a mount of water. You could try the organic way and use vinega for the time being until you work out what it is. Good luck.
