Is she ready for harvest? (noob grower)

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by lucidream, Feb 1, 2011.

  1. I've been growing this thing since october on 12/12. First grow. How much longer until I can harvest? Is there anyway to tell without looking at trichomes. And also are the little buds at the internodes suppose to grow larger to become part of the cola? Thanks for all the help.

  2. Dude she's beeeeautiful!!! Jealous!

    :smoke:

  3. It's really hard to tell without checking the trichoms you might be losing potency also you can get 2 different highs off the plant depending on the trich color do you not a jewelers glass or a maginifying glass? if not maybe if you gota good camera try to get a really up close clear pic of the bud and zoom in as much as u can

  4. Yeah dude I'm surprised at how frosty she is.

Nah man I don't have anything I can use to check the tri colours. My camera doesn't do good macro shots. I was hoping to find an alternative to the magnifying method.

  5. if you have an old 35mm SLR, the standard 50mm lens makes a quite good magnifier.

I also read on another froum that when the leaves start to change to yellow its a sign they are ready, but checking trich colors is the only reliable way that I know of a 30x-75x magnifying glass is the best way and they are typically fairly cheap. I've seen them as low as $3.00 at walmart

  6. Ah okay cool thanks for the info. Since this is my first grow I have some questions. I tried to search for this but I couldn't find anything. I see that there are white pistils growing from the internodes and they have gone from white hairs to green bud and they are covered in tris. Will these internode buds eventually grow more and connect with the cola? Let me know please and thanks. =)

  7. I think that has a lot to do with the strain, but then again I am not the most reliable person to answer these kind of questions.

  8. Damn good grow for your first.

If youv'e been flower since october I would say she is probably done.

Also look at those pistils a good bit are amber which is a sign of being in the final stages.

    Has the growth slowed alot?

    I would say chop.
I am new at this too but 3- 4 months of flower seems really long from what I have a seen.

Any seasoned peeps one to give me a second vote for chopping?

  9. Well I've been growing it from seed on 12/12. I don't know why but I took the advice of a friend who suggested to just go 12/12 from start. I'd say that its been flowering for the last month and a half.

  10. This is important info and changes things, most likely it's not ready yet. Go to Radio Shack and spend the $12.49 for the pocket microscope. It's worth it.

  11. Jesus resize the pics, grow looks nice though.

  12. I would totally buy that if i hadn't just ordered a $95 bubbler. I'm broke can't afford to spend money on the microscope or atleast not for another week or so. Is there any other way to tell?

  13. I dont think there ready yet if they've only been blooming for a month or two. just wait til next week and get a magnifier. Most of the strains i've seen have around 50-80 day flowering period give or take a few days either way.

  14. Okay so how much longer do you think it will take? the top of the colas are now mostly brown colour. Also does anyone know if the buds at the internodes will grow to become the colas because right now the tops of the colas are small only 2 or three colas are actually bigger than a coin in length.

  15. Looks like 30% of the pistils have turned color.

And the trichomes are everywhere on this thing.

I would say you're ready to go if you want a clear sativa-like effect.

  16. what strain are you growing and what breeder is it from?

  17. Well from what I can see, it looks as if about 20-30% of the trichomes have turned amber. I have heard that the THC is the most potent before the trichomes turn amber, but I could be wrong. I would suggest that you let it stay a little longer, maybe 3 weeks, then chop. If you are saying that the colas are pretty small, then I would definitely let them grow longer. Hope this helps some!

  18. bagseed from some unknown kush that got me BAKEEEEDDDD

  19. cloudy trichs are for a more clear cerebral high and amber trichs are more of a couchlock stoned

  20. i cant clearly tell the colour of the trichs
