Is rock dead?

  1. When rock was created, it was meant to be hard and rebellious. Pounding drums, a dirty guitar and overall a dirty sound. I know The Beatles seems quite mellow and quiet, but back then the older generation found it too rough.

During the two last couple of decades, musicians has started to polish the rock music making the distorted guitar somehow seem mellow and a rock singer today doesn't sound like he has a throat problem, but like he's been castrated, singing in a nice and cute falsetto. The mood has changed into some kind of an atmospheric melancoly, that throughout the song will releal itself through slow and powerful build-ups into an explosion of harmonies and dynamics. Bear in mind that I'm roughly generalising here. This is still nice music (I don't think so personally, though) but I really don't think it deserves to be called rock music. It doesn't have that raw power of anger that it used to. Am I making any kind of sense here?

  2. Yeh the new whiney bullshit that a lot of high school aged kids listen to is ridiculous.

  4. Turbonegro is exactly who I thought of, they still play callic style hard rock.
And yeah, I think the rock scene has become so diluted with shit, that it's basically over.
