  1. Just received my new ppm pen. It looks like its not working does it make any sense if tap water comes out a 57ppm? I live in Montreal Canada.
Also just took a reading of nutrient mixed with water using Canna A 2.5ml/L + Canna B 3.5ml/L + Cannaboost 2ml/L (recommended dose on feeding chart for week 4 flower) and it gives me around 450ppm..
These numbers sounds impossible what do you think?

  2. Depends on what scale you’re using the 500 or 700 scale. This is why use EC vs tds or ppm

  7. and buy some calibration solution !

  8. Man I tought EC was measured in ppm I did not have a clue about all this.
Now I does not say anywhere on my pen what scale they used.

  9. That is good for tap, mine is 350 and will kill a hydro plant in a few days.
I got a RO system for me and my plants.
Sounds like mine, a .7 conversion, and those numbers are about right.
If you want to know for sure do like trojanGrower says.

  10. Im pissed and feel like i've been riped off. What a scam. I wrote to amazon they said contact seller and asked what ppm scale is used ppm700 based on kcl on ppm 500 based on Nacl?? seller answered me "your pen is good to mesure up to 9990ppm"

  11. i need to know wich one 700 or 500 to buy calibration solution ...

  12. see I didn't know that.

  13. cause shouldn't 1000ppm be exactly that!?

  14. 1000 at 500ppm based on Kcl does not have the same EC value as 1000 on a scale of 700 based on Nacl.
    1000ppm divided by 700 =1.42 EC
    1000ppm divided by 500 = 2EC

  15. can is see the pen in question?

  16. So I saw this and got to searching and from what I’ve found kcl is potassium chloride, nacl is sodium chloride. One has a ppm of 500, the other 700. The sodium chloride (I’m assuming at this point, I can’t recall exactly) is the higher ppm as it has more salts (I think).

  17. I was going to post this earlier, and suggest you use salt, but it doesn't help now... does it. You also need a scale...
