Is My Internet Slow?

  1. Trying to watch YouTube videos on my mobile browser and it constantly stops and has to stop and buffer and im about to rage. I downloaded some speed test thing. Are these numbers slow?

  2. No, those are reasonable. You might try the YouTube app and see if it's any better or else it might have something to do with the wireless network you're connected to.

  3. try the app and you're on a phone. its expected

  4. It's really frustrating. Everything else seems fast except YouTube. Even the app lags. Here's a ss of all my tests tonight. Seems like the numbers are all over the place. This Internet had a history of screwing up. Just want to make sure my phone isn't messed up or something.

Lol at the fact that you would pay $700 for a phone and still expect it to perform amazingly. It's a phone dont expect a PC. It's gonna be slow at times. And if you're so sure it's not your phone then yeah it is your internet. You can afford a $700 phone but have slow internet.

  7.  $700 for a phone?  I would have bought a $14 tracphone and spend the rest of the money on weed.

    Yes.

It doesn't matter if you spend $10,000 on the phone.  It's still connecting to the same network of cell towers, which is slow and causes lag.

Try taking it to a store for your cell provider, and comparing it against a phone they have there in the store.  If it's worse than the ones in the store, see if they will swap the phone for you or offer some other help like updating the firmware/etc.

  9. Slow web pages could be the result of dns server timeouts. Your router is probably getting the dns servers from your Internet provider. (Logging on to the router should tell you the routers dns server IP address).
The PC's could be getting their dns server IP address either from your Server or the 2700HGV router. Disconnecting your server from the network and connecting a PC to the router should test this premise.
Take your server out of equation and see if Internet access and webpages speeds up. later test your speed here ScanMySpeed.com

I have my phone connected to high speed wifi and youtube still blows at loading. Wtf could you possibly want to use youtube for anywaySent from my LGL55C using Grasscity Forum mobile app

  11. Phones are for calling/texting, computers are for internet. As has already been stated, the amount you paid for your phone makes no difference on the fact that mobile internet always sucks miserably.

  12. All the numbers seem like they're within a margin of error. Sometimes except for that one from 05/24/13 @ 10:33 obviously cause that's not even on the network haha. Internet fluctuates, it happens. But your Internet seems okay to me! I get like 50mb+ down and 15mb up. Downloads from Steam usually come in at a consistent 8mbps so that's always nice :)

  13. Its the youtube servers. Theyre shithouse just like twitter. They overload because the companies who own them cant be f'd upgrading the system to support how many people use them at any given time, even though they have money growing from there arse.

  14. You're using your wifi? Might be a poor signal. Play around with the channels on your modem/router. Check 1 by 1 and see which one gives you best connection.

  15. nope my phone was about $700-800 and it's fucking awesome.

There's no reason to even have a computer anymore, other than for watching TV that I steal

  16. What router are you using? Some routers can slow down your connection speed.

  17. I feel you. I used to have T5 Cable High speed internet from Shaw, since i moved I was promised fiber optic internet from Bell and i am now stuck on this bullshit of DSL.Bell is going to get a very rude surprise tommorow. So when you are used to fast speeds and you can multitask a shitton and now you have to wait to have a movie on putlocker to buffer halfway during the peak of the movie you get very angry very fast. When i was younger my parents had DSL from telus. And jesus fucking christ that was a nightmare. Currently i have a 2wire dsl/wifi combo modem (and we all know how bad combo modems are) and sometimes it's pretty fast other times it's just garbage. I miss my fast cable internet with no interruptions

  18. Tell that to my cellphone with a quad core cpu and 2gb ram...

  19. the video buffer is probably just really small on your phone causing streaming to lag
