Is my grow space better suited for 1 or 2 plants?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by MadCapMan, Jul 1, 2017.

  1. I have a grow tent that's 2x2 feet and about 6.6 feet tall, and I use a 135w LED panel. My prefered method of growing is the manifold technique (in soil). I've grown 3 times so far, with 2 plants in the tent each time. But I've always been a bit disappointed with each plant's yield and bud size. Now, equipment upgrade isn't gonna happen (for now), so I wondered if I might get a better yield if I only grew 1 plant in this space?

For instance, after my second grow, each plant gave about 30 grams (60g total). So if I'd grown one plant, instead of two, would that one plant have yeilded more or less than 60g, if all other conditions were the same?

  2. Your problem is that light. If you got 160 bucks get a 90w quantum board or something similar. You'll be happy

  3. Sadly, it's not in my budget to upgrade/replace equipment anytime soon. So I'm mostly interested in what I can do with my current equipment, for best results :)

But what are those quantum board thingies? Some new LED tech?

Edit: Also, since my current light is 135w (actual wattage), wouldn't a 90w device be a huge downgrade?

  4. They make the leds we use look like child's play hah. But if you want max yield really look into long veg and lst.

  5. yield goes by watts not plants ...if you had 10 in there and didn't Veg at all and the 10 "filled out" the space by the time it's ready...then the yield would still be based on the lighting ...having one means you have to Veg a little to get it to fill out the space BUT the yield would still be based on the watts of lighting....Some strains do yield more...take that into account....the average now a days is close to 0.5 grams per watt....if your good at it that and have the high yield strain that could be as much as 1.0 gram per watt ...given you "filled out the space" ...só...i say in your case it doesn't matter one vegged like 15 days or 2 vegged like 7 days will yield the same....you will only yield more when you increase the lighting...the watts....but make sure the temp also stays in range...doubling the light won't be good if the space gets too hot...then you'll yield less than with the light you have....proper feeding is also key to max the gram per watt ratio as well as the strain... good luck and good grows keep us posted

    good

  6. Once again to my aid :love-m3j:
So to be clear, two plants trained to have 5 colas each will yield the same total amount as one plant trained to have 10 colas?

  7. yup...depends on the watts of lighting (lumens) in the watts .and not the plant count.

good luck and keep us posted

  8. The light you have is only good for one plant.

  9. So, I'd get a higher yield with one plant rather than two?

  10. 2 smaller ones that fill the space is the SAME as one that fills it Dude..it's not rocket science...the difference being with one you have to Veg a little and with 2 you have to Veg less than that...you want to aim for the plants to fill out the space with bud sites...(growth chutes) generally speaking the light you have is OK for one plant ...BUT 2 can fly as well as long as they don't jungle fuck in there and grow branches everywhere that don't see light....in which case the plant spends it time reaching for light and not producing flowers...

good luck and good grows keep us posted .

  11. Genetics then lighting, i started with cfls, then 150 watt hps, 400 watt hps and not until a 600watt DE hps was i happy with the weight and quality of the meds, long story short growing one plant to its fullest will serve you better..
