Is minimum wage paid slavery?

  1. Having someone tell you you are worth 8 bucks an hour. Basically putting a price tag on your worth.

    Discuss.

  2. It feels like it in California, you can't survive on that alone.

  3. Someone is only worth as little as they're willing to accept.

  4. lol min wage was 5.25 here when i had my first tax paying job (i mowed lawns for fucking years and made pretty good money lol straight cash).. and that was only back in 2005....

8 bucks an hour is definitely enough to live on, depending where you are

  5. Paid slavery is an oxymoron. Slaves are not paid, and can't quit whenever they want. Slight difference there.

  6. Most jobs are "Paid Slavery"

The amount of work required for the shit fucking pay and no benefits is fucking disgusting.

I try and imagine any way out of it, or anything else I can do, because I am so against this system, but it's too far gone, I'm stuck in it, like most everyone else.

    Word...

  8. Your thinking Wage Slave.

And honestly. People settle for what they can get instead of striving forward. So shucks for them.

  9. Why not just go live in the woods?

  10. I've thought about this too. Working at $8 an hour is basically saying to you your life is worth $8 every hour.

But we do need a system of currency to barter and attain goods. Think of it as you're not working for the money but rather the house you live in, the bed you sleep in, the clothes you put on, shoes you wear, food you eat... Etc. See it as the money is just the middle man. In the end it has no value because the real value is in the goods you buy.

  11. Slave just means you are someones property and are forced to do their biddings. You can be paid though lol. Kings servents back in the day being a good example, they were paid, but born into and died in the world of serving

But you are still right, slaves dont stand in line with a resume to get whipped and thrown into the fields

  12. I don't have the time to write up my reason to that question, but let's just say I've tried it.

  13. Being paid is the opposite of slavery. I think the fact that we have minimum wage at all is a travesty.

  14. i hate working a punk ass job for minimum wage but... it is what ..it is.

  15. Your life is worth exactly what you believe it is, what you do to obtain the currency required to survive in society has NO effect on your worth. Essentially what you are saying is the rich fat fucks who sit behind their CEO fortune 500 desks are worth more than the working class....

    and you are wrong

  16. How on earth is minimum wage a travesty?

People who own the company make millions and millions in profits, minimum wage just lowers the amount of millions in profit they will make.

  17. If you have no choice but to work for shelter and food, then yes. If someone is willing to give you food and shelter, then no.

  18. Indeed...it is what it is.

  19. What benefits would come from having no minimum wage?

  20. yup. its called wage slavery.
