Is it too late to LST?

  1. i've been growing for about a month and a half now (i had a very slow start)...the plants are about foot to a foot and a half tall and was wondering if it was too late to try and LST? i tried LSTing before with hangers cut and bent into C-shapes but the plant was too strong and would just lift the anchors out of the ground after a day so i gave up...was thinking of trying to tie them down with string...would this be a bad idea at this point or is it still doable?

  2. Anything that's not brittle can be bent even without tying, just use your hands and 'encourage' them into the position you'd like them to end up in, bit by bit. Plenty of time to LST, but of course for extreme canopies you'd want to start earlier.

Nothing wrong with trying... and if you're good, you can cut HALFWAY THROUGH the stem, bend it over to 90 degrees without breaking it, then use a plant hormone that acts like a bandaid on the break, and it will grow horizontal for a few days, then the top will start growing up again... there's a name for it, just can't remember it now. Your other option, when you transplant it into a bigger pot, just lay the whole plant on it's side, with the base of the stalk around the center of the pot, but the root ball touching one side... Tomato growers do this to give the roots a stronger base, and the stalk gets stronger from having to grow UP again. You could LST it right away after repotting it... after it settles for a day or two.

  4. gotcha, i think i may try to tie it little by little and gradually bend it over...once i have it somewhat bend to the side i can just tighten the strings to bend it more so i don't stress the plant too much...the repotting sounds like a good idea but its already transplanted it in a HUGE pot lol...

  5. It's called supercropping when you bend/break the stem so it grows horizontally. I have done this mid flower...
