Is it safe to open my windows?

  1. I am growing indoors inside a grow tent. I do not want to add an air conditioner simply because they are limited in my house with all the rooms we have to cool. With the warm weather coming, I cant seem to keep the temperature under 85 degrees inside the tent. I feel as if I could achieve a cooler temperature with simply opening a window to allow airflow. My only concerns are pollen and bugs. Do you think it would be safe for my plants? ( week 4 flower)

  2. I sealed my window today as I did not want the smell as faint as it is, to attract pests. I did toy with the idea of placing an intake fan in the window, build around it so the intake is the only hole. Then maybe fix a ladies panty hose on the end to prevent any bugs that survive the blades-o-death from actually getting into the tent. Maybe pantyhose placed in two or three strategic places. Intake side, output side, and the end of the duct. Just Incase something chews through a layer. Just a thought.

  4. I exhaust from the closet into the room. Use the window open most of time for cooling since I mainly grow in the winter. Never had any problems. I do use a hair net as a filter for the intake to keep bugs out.

  6. I recently got a piece of 1/4" polycarbonate, cut to the size of the window frame, put a 4" hole with a duct vent as an intake. The 6" hole will be my exhaust (waiting on my new exhaust fan).
I put adhesive velcro on the window frame and on the polycarbonate and it seals really well.

    Best of luck!

  8. has it gotten as hot as you would expect for your area or is it just starting to warm up?

  9. It is just starting to warm up! So it will get much hotter soon

  10. Try the window thing out for now but If your having that much heat already in the tent than you might want to look into a portable AC for when it really heats up!! I got mine for 80 bucks on facebook market place and it works great.

  11. I looked for one of those all the ones I found was like 200 bucks lol. I dont really want to cut a whole into the window screen so I wonder if I can just put a fan in the window seal the open parts and put some kinda net over the fan??

  15. what type of light set up are you running? are these intake/exhaust fans or just circulating air inside tent? sorry for the questionnaire.

  16. Nothing special, I just have 2 600w phlizon led lights (105w true power ea) and I have an intake exhaust fan and a circulating fan in the tent and 2 other circulating fans outside

  17. is your exhaust fan mounted up high near the lights to pull hot air out? make sure the intake fan is down low to bring in the coolest air possible. use the circulating fan to move that cool air around to help push hot air up, and out.

  18. I have the fan bouncing the air off the walls because it was drying out and killing all the leaves with direct contact[IMG][IMG]

  19. One thing I’ve recently done that has reduced my temps unexpectedly was hanging an upward facing fan level with the exhaust (side ports) of the lights. I have 5 lights in that tent, floor temp low 70’s, canopy about 75. Previous it was 85 at the canopy and my AC had already been running. Now that tent is a 4x4. My 2x4 tent is about 80. Room temp at 70.
