Is it possible o combine two strains? Just curious as I have one on offer and looks good

  1. Im told it is strawberry cough and mango kush cross pollinated breed, whatever that means?

Just want to be sure this is possible before buying. Nugs look really tasty and well cured etc.

Im new to cannabis, and couldnt find the combined strain on leafly so was just wondering is this quite normal for people to cross strains?

  2. sure it's possible. If it looks like good weed (smells, tastes, smokes) then it should be fine. Most strains, strawberry cough, mango tango, bob sagget og, purple urkle, are named as a marketing ploy anyways. The cross between SC and MK would not be more sought after than any other strain. You shouldn't be upcharged for it is what I'm saying.

  4. To be honest they not trying to promote it as such, I just asked what it is and thats what they said it is. I have medical issues and respond best to indicas but also waned to lift in my mood.

I just didnt know if it was possible or really hard to combine two strains !

  5. Some strains are created by combining two different strains. Lots out there, just can't name them at the top of my head.
Besides, I like mixing different strains sometimes when I have two different strains on me.

  6. so when you say combine what do you mean? as in breeding?
one of 4he best books on breeding marijuana is MARIJUANA BOTANY by Robert Connell Clark
there are inbred or pure bred that will breed true if you combine them. so the seedlings will look like the parents. like skunk #1 or northern lights 5. they are old strains . they so kot sell inbred or pure breeds much those days as you can just bred your own when you buy 4he first seeds.
Hybrids are the result of a cross between 2 inbred like sk1 x nl5.
this is a hydrid and ref3rded 5o as. F1 genersrion . .now this is when mendel's law of hereditary breed comes in .he was monk who worked with snap pea and gave us our present understanding of genetics and predictability in crosses
crossing sk1xnl5 there is not one side to stabilise the cross. this would be called the F2 generation. in the plants you have dominant and recessive Gene's. a dom will always Express over a recessive gene. like brown and blue eyes .brown is dominant and will be expressed in children with parents who had blue and brown . ( there are certain circumstances when blue could still Express if 2 parents with blue ss a recessive gene have the child even if they both have brown eyes but is rare)
in marijuanna mendels law says the F2 generation will now show 75 % looking the same whole 25% expressing recessive genes. such as thick indica leaf over thin sativa leafs. thick leaf is normally dominant.
the f3 gen even gets more variable.
this is his people come up with new variants . cross hydrids until new recessive genes like color or smell or a growth trait manifest and then concentrate on breeding that trait or traits and after a few generations it stabilizes and you have a new stabilized inbred strain 4hs4 you can grow or breed again to make a new hybrid cross.
so long story is you can not cross a hydrid strain with another hybrid without expecting at least 25% being variable and not stable. not necessarily bad just differnt.

  7. Yes it's possible. Hybrids are grown all the time.

  8. as long as they adhere to mendels law of heredity for stabilization. one side must be a pure breeding strain . you can not cross a hybrid with a hydrid and expect the F2 generation to be stable and uniform

  9. Cannabis has male and female plants so if you take a female from one strain and pollen from the male of a second strain you get a new cross that is essentially a mix of the two parent strains.

  10. That is what Im told was done, mango kush pollinated with strawberry cough !

Im not sure what to expect. I need something Indica like but still lets me think well, so works on pain but lets the brain breath without too much sedation. From what ive read of both strains it sounds like it will work out. The buds look very tasty

  11. they can be but it's what that would come out. any female or Male can be crossed. but to be a viable stable consistent strain one side of the cross has to be purebred or a true breeding strain if either of those strains are inbred they will work . if not they will have a lot of diversity .

  12. There wouldn't be a massive seed market with seemingly endless numbers of strains with cleverly and not so cleverly blended names, if you couldn't cross them.

If you want a great indica dominant strain, LSD from Barney's Farm. Very stable strain. I've not seen much variation at all between specimens. I can plant 10 LSD seeds and get 10 almost identical plants.
If you like rosin, LSD squeezes very nice too. Real good returns, collects easy, hard hitting.

    Good luck

  13. I saw that online. Nobody here selling it yet, blackmarket.

Planning to Micro Dose via dry vape and use my legal CBD oil prior.

  14. It's a great strain to grow. I keep a mom of it around.
There are a couple other growers on here that grow it regularly too.
Yeah if you're in Canada, there isn't much in the way of selection for seeds or rosin if you stick to the tidy government built playground.

I browse The Vault in the UK, they have all the best breeders, great freebies and they're friendly.

  15. No Im down under, law here is kinda soft on it but still technicllally illegal. I cant afford a grow light anyway, they like $300 here for a 400w. I just wanted a 1 plant light.

  16. I think that it's possible, but I've been growing cannabis only for a month, and I think that I won't be able to do something like that. I ordered my first strain to be grown from Bruce Banner #3 feminized seeds for sale - Herbies not long ago. If I succeed with growing it, and I think that later I will also start experimenting and mixing. And I think it will be easy to find useful info online, or it's always possible to ask someone more experienced for advice.
