If i collect the water in a resevoir, make sure the PH is about 6.5, is it ok to water my plants with tap water? Is there a way to make sure it's good water?
As long as your leaving it out for a few days before using it to help evaporate some of the additives ( my city adds Flouride to the water ) should be fine tho
If you need to water, and you don't have any that's been sitting(I like an airstone in mine) tapwater will work
I use Tap water for Hydro and it's not a problem--then again, im lucky to live in the Great Lakes Region--no fresh water is better! As long as your PPM is under 200--tap water is fine for any application. If you have to get your water from a well or a small town reservoir--that could be a different story.
A while back I tried watering with tap water with some new seedlings. They rocked up in a few hours then got too weak to support their own height and fell over and died. I switched to distilled and this hasn't been a problem, although this is off of city water. It's like, $1 for a 2.5 gallon container of distilled water
I'm going to steal the tap water with an airstone idea, would save money as compared to distilled water.
I dont understand. Weed is weed and i have never ever had a problem watering plants (any kind of plants cose ganja like i said is just another plant) with tap water... People are allways trying to control every aspect of the grow and yeah, its important if you want to make comparisons cose you have to standardize and kill variables in order to understand whats happening scientifically speaking... but seariously?? Im not shure tap water is a problem...it could produce lockout of nutrients but thats not really an issue..you just dont maximize nutes absorption. Im gworing with tap water between 200 and 400ppm and hey...my plant looks terrific to me (check for your self if u want). With soiless medium i think its a whole diferent story...if your grow medium is water the you should make shure your water is perfect just as we (soil growers) make shure the soil is perfect for the grow. Best regards.
It depends on your tap water, there's good and bad and everything in between. Is your area known for "bad" water? Also, even if your local water system puts out nice clean water, it still is traveling to you through pipes that are decades old and could introduce contaminants. As long as your local tap water is decent then you should be OK if you 1) filter the water and 2) let it sit open 24 hours before using it on your plants. Letting it sit out will evaporate out the chlorine (but nothing else, fluoride and minerals don't evaporate).
