I am thinking of doing this because as the watts go up cfl's become less cost effective and HPS becomes more cost effective. I would like to flower with a 250w HPS and veg with 125w cfl. Also can any one give me a general idea of how to set up a HPS with the ballast and all. Also what will I need to keep the temps down with the HPS. I hear they are quite hotter than cfl's.
That is no problem at all. Just don't forget to use the rigjt spectrum for vegging and all be just fine!
Yeah that setup will work out perfectly. The 250w HPS shouldn't be too hot, really, unless you have a space less than 2x2'. Just have a fan blowing between the canopy and the light towards the exhaust and also an exhaust fan w/ carbon filter/smell control attached to it
