is it ok to use copper as a downstem?

    im making a bong out of a vase and will eventually use a real downstem and bowl, but for now i was thinking about using a short copper pipe, just for the downstem, not for the bowl. just making sure that wont have any fumes or shit like that. (i know this should go in toking tools, but itll get more replies here)

    Please someone correct me if I'm wrong but I am pretty sure that copper releases toxic fumes when heated.

    yeah just use an apple till u can afford a glass downstem
