Is it normal for a HPS bulb to start bright white/flicker then it turns yellow?

    I've never seen or used a HPS before and It flickers at the start then it starts and the colour is white and then it turns yellow. (400w)
    I want to know if it's normal or damaged

    It's normal. I'm an electrician. It's standard for high pressure sodium
