Is It Good To Sleep High?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by ROOReos, Sep 3, 2012.

  1. So, basically, my question is this: is sleeping high better than sleeping sober?

From what I've heard, when you go to sleep baked, your amount of REM sleep is drastically decreased. As you probably know, REM sleep is the most important kind of sleep there is. So does this harm you in the long run? Or does it not matter?

  2. First thing I thought...."Hell yes it is".

Then I thought, "how can you sleep not high?"

  3. It's fine sleeping high, I always feel great in the morning when I go to sleeo high, but mist of the time you won't remember your dream but that's about it

  4. I doubt it's harmful, considering it cures insomnia.

  5. Honestly i think theres no difference other then you might get some weird dreams and you might wake up high so be prepared ahah. Meaning dont freak out if when you open your eyes the room is spining.

  6. No idea what REM is. The only thing i miss about sleeping sober is dreams. You don't dream if you get baked before bed.

But if i can manage to sleep a night without weed, i have wicked strong dreams and remember them fully. Fun stuff.

  7. It is know in the state of California that sleeping while high causes Sleep Cancer... Wouldn't recommend it OP

  8. i heard the same thing and sometimes i notice an increase in dreaming when i go on toke breaks. I doubt its disturbing sleep cycles that much tho, i usually feel fine in the mornings after a late night session.. so long as i get 7-8hrs + sleep

  9. Lol, i CANT get 7-8 hours sleep without it :(

  10. ?

I wouldnt recommend cause afaik it messed with sleep cycles.

  11. I was just about to grab a bowl and do the same thing. One thing I'm wondering though, does stoned-sleeping give you a lazy stomach? I'll snack and pass out right before bed and I always feel like it slows down digestion

  12. It is way better to sleep high man.

I get around 8-9 hours when I sleep high. When Sober I get around 6 hours of sleep.

  13. it does have an effect on our digestive system, i too feel that slows it down or somthing, dont think its a bad thing tho

  14. As long as you're getting sufficient sleep, you're fine. It does mess with your REM sleep - it takes longer to get to it. So sleep a little longer and you won't have any negative consequences. If you smoke before bed every night, your body becomes used to it while building up a natural tolerance, so the effect lessens. I would not say there are any negative consequences for long-term usage in this way, so long as you are getting an appropriate amount of sleep. Don't quote me on that, though :smoke:

It helps alleviate it, not cure it.

REM is Rapid Eye Movement. It is when you are actively dreaming, and when your body is in its most efficient recovery mode. You typically go through 3 phases of REM in a 7 hour period. Since REM sleep is when your dreams are most vivid and memorable, and weed affects it, that is why you don't remember your dreams after smoking, yet have intense ones while sober.

It does slow down digestion, but minimally. People are often confused about this because it raises blood pressure, and they attach that to their digestion.

When sober, you are entering REM sleep faster, so you need less sleep, as mentioned earlier.

  15. Indica dominant strains get you sleeping like a rock no question.. some strains of sativa have got me waking up constantly through out the night and whenever i'd smoke some sativa and end up sleeping well, I would always remember some some crazy delusional dream that sent me up into the higher dimensions and experience some sort of strange extra terrestrial frequency. but hey that's just me.

Marijuana makes you sleep better, no doubt
it'l either be a deep, body stoned sleep which you don't wake up at all or some light nap which induces many episodes of awesome astral travel.

  16. Did you know you can train your ability to astral travel to the point of being able to do it at will, asleep or awake?

  17. say what?

  18. I'm not one to repeat myself.

  19. I haven't read up on astral traveling yet, but I'm certain I've been practicing it for a while. A few times I've been really baked and been able to project and whatnot

  20. I love going to sleep high off Indica cause if I wake , I can go right back to sleep no problem .....
