I came across the 1900 page suicide note written by Mitchell Heisman, I only read a very small segment of the paper and it was regarding the perspective that life was a better alternative than death. "There is a very popular opinion that choosing life is inherently superior to choosing death. This belief that life is inherently preferable to death is one of the most widespread superstitions. This bias constitutes one of the most obstinate mythologies of the human species" This small segment of the text basically concludes what the whole chapter is about. What are your opinions?
to understand which could be better you have to first understand what 'life' and 'death' are. can you say that you do with absolutely certainty?
Exactly who really know what life is all about. Nobody knows what happens when you die so how could anybody say one is better than the other. I would say life is better
Do I understand death? outside of holy scriptures and religious books, no, death has always mystified me. Do I understand life? Yes, I understand that the modern human is deluded and warped by materialistic conventions. I understand that the modern humans mind is fragile to the manipulation of the media and other morbid structures of the higher ups. I understand that life as we know it has drastically been altered from the life we knew before the introduction of currencies that manifested itself into polluting the minds of average men.
Suicide sometimes proceeds from cowardice, but not always; for cowardice sometimes prevents it; since as many live because they are afraid to die, as die because they are afraid to live. -Charles Caleb Colton
Always really interested me about people's near death experiences, All of them seem to have a very similar feelings about peacefulness and transcending and going to a bright light source, and I'm atheist....
How can you be dead if you were not even created... there is no death if there is no life to begin with.
he did it as a "self experimintation of the elimination of consciousness" blow hes brains out on the church stairs i believe.... classy i cant help but call people who commit suicide as assholes, they dont care about the people they hurt and leave behind... I mean its one thing when no one gives a shit about you, but its different when there are people who care about you
I've experienced being reborn, but that can't be discussed on these forums I feel death is the end and once you die, you simply die....nothing else happens :S
Death will happen to me one day inevitably. I'll hang on to this fragile thing we call life, because death is pretty easily all around us. 70 years isn't a long time, maybe it is. Idk. I'll enjoy whatever it is and when I die i'll take that in too.
Confucious says, "By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."
