So recently people have been going on the internet and claiming the fantasy roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons not only reinforces ultra right wing beliefs but is also racist. My personal opinion is that the game is not racist and one only thinks it is by drawing false parallels between the different races in the game, which are actually different species, and different human races on Earth in real life.

In particular they are looking at the race of orcs, which are a race in the game drawn both naturally and due to their culture towards violence and war. I don't think that orcs represent, or should be seen to represent, any group of humans in real life. They are a fantastical creation and should be treated as such.

People play games such as D&D to escape from real life and the problems of our world and immerse themselves in a fictional environment. But that can no longer be allowed apparently, as people are intent on attacking fantasy by drawing connections to real world issues and claiming aspects of fantasy are caricatures of real life. Please stop. Humans are humans. Orcs are orcs. And I highly doubt there are many white supremacists playing these games. Kindly fuck off and find something else to be outraged about. Something grounded in reality.

  2. Some folks seem to like to draw parallels where none exist.

They become so comfortable, and live such an easy life, the mind/brain manifests said manias

  5. Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”

And the cycle repeats over and...

  7. Interesting considering that it was heavy conservatives in the 80’s who wanted to have it banned and removed from stores because of its’ anti-Christian, some even claimed Satanic, nature.

  8. If you find something racist, your racist
Unless there's physical/oppurtune at play, one person's words shouldn't control your emotions

  10. To the REAL SNOWFLAKES out there, everything is either racist, sexist or homophobic. Inclusion and exclusion are both demonized by whiny people. You include a character who is gay and exhibits a few "stereotypes" it's Homophobic... Don't have a gay character in something it's also homophobic.
