  1. Hi all, I'm a newbie on here so please excuse my naivety!
Been smoking weed a few years now, started to manage back pain now just enjoy the buzz more than drink so tend to smoke most weekends. Our usual supplier has dried up and we are branching out (going to start growing our own in the polytunnel next year!). Been offered a quarter for £60 (which is what we usually pay) or a quarter of UK Cali for £100? Is it worth the extra?

  3. But maybe it's good weed. That's besides the point lol. So we have these high end stuff here in the stores. Runts and all. It is too strong.

  4. Ask for a sample or at the very least ask to compare the quarter of regular and Cali side by side so you can see what they are selling. It may well be worth the extra money but then again it may not.

I like top shelf bud as much as the next guy but honestly the mid level bud quality you see today is so good I’d rather save some money.

  5. I'd go with the local-grown. There is nothing "magical" about cannabis grown in California. It's all comes down to the plant's genetics and the care the plants are given. Good genetics are available in the UK, so there's no real reason the UK-grown to be inferior to California's cannabis.

Once you get your own grow started and "tuned in", I think you may find your home-grown is the best because you know exactly what went into it and it's grow with love! :smiley-rolling-joint:

  6. They have some of the best outdoor on the planet which is extremely important if your looking for sun grown herb. Round here its snowing by mid October, no way to really get a good crop.

  7. Don't pay the prices dude stick to whatever you get now it'll be no different...

I live in the UK & have been smoking/buying for 10+ years now, all the weed is the same lol, you'll get people who will try to sell you "Cali" or so called "top shelf" & the only difference is you'll get it in a tin or a dispensary tub  so it isn't worth the extra £.

I smoke daily for chronic pain relief & the weed I get is just as good as the stuff people get in dispensarys on here :confused_2:

  8. @420JoeBlow Hon, I'm living in the mountains of Northern California and right now we are having a mix of snow and rain falling with possible 60 mph winds! We have already had our first few killing frosts! A town just a little south of us may get 4 to 7 inches of snow tonight according to the tv news.

As I often have said, gardening here on the mountain is an adventure- which is why I grow in a closet (plus there are a couple of local teens who might be tempted by outdoor plants).

  9. Oh im not refering to all of Cali, youve got a big state. But there are certain places with undeniably perfect cannabis growing weather.

  10. Thers gotta be at least a couple good growers over there. Maybe OP has stumbled upon one.

  11. There's 1000s of good growers over here in the UK man lol

  12. Jeez this makes me feel old with over 45 years under my belt; if it's a gateway drug, I seem to have missed the gate. Perfectly happy on this side of the fence.

  13. Thank you all so much for your advice, sounds like everyone agrees that sticking to regular will be fine and generally "top shelf" isn't worth the extra ££.
I'm hoping I'll be one of those Scottish "good" growers in the not too distant future and can't wait to sample my own grown (and smoked) with love ✌

  16. Please explain how paying some 1 extra for "Cali"/"top shelf" isn't worth it & there being 1000s of good growers in the UK don't line up ...

Idk if Ur confused but when people say Cali/top shelf it usually comes in dumb ass boxs which is why the dealers charge more.. it doesn't mean anything lol, & even without the box/pot ect some people still try to charge more & say it's top shelf/dank ect ect... When in reality it's no different to any other weed & they just want to make more £££...

  17. Here in America there is such a thing as top shelf.... The majority of weed circulating here is early-harvested, hydroponic, machine-trimmed garbage. Everyone in a huge rush to get product to market. Soil grown weed that was allowed to properly finish and has been properly dried/cured is very hard to find. That is why most of us grow our own. Back before legalization some California sun grown would come along most winters. It was very expensive but it didnt matter the price, no one could get enough of it. Since then ive learned to grow slightly better weed indoors but I would expect something labeled "Cali" to be of top shelf quality and if it wasnt, I wouldnt buy it.
