The Merge network is pretty safe, if you use PokerOne and you have an agent in your area you can even get the money hand delivered to you. Live poker is still worth it IMO as long as you're within 45 mins driving of a casino and you're rolled for 2/5 it shouldn't be a big issue, obviously is you want to make a decent living you'd want to be playing 5/10 or better.
