is a MH conversion bulb necessary (worth the money)

    Planning my first grow for a personal stash...250watt hps, 2-3 plants scrog, about a 2x3 grow space, well ventilated...

    I'm kinda on a tight budget and was wondering if a MH conversion bulb for vegging is really necessary (by necessary I mean...your buds are gonna be that much better to make it worth spending the extra money on it). If not I was just gonna do the entire grow under HPS...only planning on vegging them to about 10-12in anyway.

    there are many people who grow with an HPS from start to finish.

    Real hard for anyone to tell you it's "worth it" or not, it's your money not ours. Your plants will veg out better under MH vs. HPS, but they will veg out under the HPS.

    I use mMH conversion bulbs in my 400's and 600's HPS lamps. I think thst they are worth it. HTGSupply has a GrowBrite 250 MH Conversion bulb for $40 (plus freight) and an AgroMax for $60 (plus freight).

    The others are absolutely correct that you can use HPS from beginning to end.
