Is a majority of weed in America skunk weed?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by jbowlin, Aug 27, 2011.

  1. I've seen several British documentaries and they all talk about how skunk weed is very prevalent and is much more dangerous than normal weed. So I am wondering is the average weed that most people get skunk weed?

  2. 'Skunk' weed, is a term that their somewhat uneducated/ill-informed government uses in an attempt to instill fear, and has applied to anything that is, as some would say, 'dank'. :p

In other words: it is no different than the best quality (dank) herb grown one hundred, or even a thousand years ago. There is just more of it these days ;)

People are more educated and informed these days when it comes to growing, and tending to plants in general (before the internet for instance, most folks often relied on what little they knew of gardening, and even more, on old wives tales :) ). And with seed banks being more prevalent the best strains and crosses are more widely available, than ever before.

  3. This, is why they came up with the term... as an excuse, to reschedule cannabis back to a class B, from a class C drug.

"After revisions to cannabis rescheduling in the UK, the government moved cannabis back from a class C to a class B drug.

A purported reason was the appearance of high potency cannabis. They believe skunk accounts for between 70 and 80% of samples seized by police [44] (despite the fact that skunk can sometimes be incorrectly mistaken for all types of herbal cannabis).[45][46] Extracts such as hashish and hash oil typicality contain more THC than high potency cannabis flowers."

    "How drugs are classified

All drugs are put into one of three categories, according to how dangerous they are. It’s worth remembering that different drugs affect people in different ways. Just because a drug is not ‘Class A’, it can still be very dangerous.

The three categories of drugs are Class A, Class B and Class C.

Class A drugs have the most harmful effects. These drugs include ***, ***, **** and ****.

Class B drugs are considered less dangerous than Class A ones but they can still be harmful. These include *****, cannabis, ***** and some *****.

Class C drugs are considered less dangerous to the user than Class A and Class B drugs but they are still illegal. These include *****, *****and some *****. "

Edited to remove other substances from the above list.

The big fuss about "Skunk" is a bunch of pure BS! :p "Skunk" is simply good cannabis! The British press has been hyping "Skunk cannabis will cause psychosis"! But all that "hot air" they spout about the risk of psychosis/ schizophrenia is just plain foolishness! These dudes crunched the numbers-

If cannabis caused schizophrenia-how many cannabis users may need to be prevented in order to prevent one case of schizophrenia? England and Wales calculations. (abst - 2009)

And more number crunching gives us this! :hello:

And then, some bright fellow thought to actually ask the people affected!

  6. I though skunk and super skunk are some kind of dank strain originating in England....

  7. 'Super Skunk', is Skunk # 1 crossed with Afghani..

    And Skunk # 1...

    "Type: Sativa-dominant hybrid
Genetics: Acapulco/Mexican Gold x (Colombian Gold x Afghani)
GeographicOrigin: California, USA, later brought to Amsterdam, The Netherlands by Sam the Skunkman
Seed Company/Clone: Originally offered by the long-defunct Sacred Seeds in 1979, it has since been bred into thousands of hybrids and put out in seed form by almost every Dutch seedbank. "

  8. Class A also includes cannabis oils.

  9. i think the word, "skunk" is just used to refer to the smell of high grade cheeba. as for being more "dangerous," idk about all that. it's more potent but i don't feel any chronic is "dangerous" if you know have any self control. so i'd have to say FALSE

  10. f- no. there's sour, sweet, skunk, fruity, all sorts of aromatics in well grown marijuana.
