The room I’ll be using is at least 6x12 with a 7 or 8 ft ceiling but I’ll only be growing 3 plants. Will 1000 watt Led be too much? And should I build a reflective partition around the grow area?

  2. 1000 watts of what? Led?

  3. Sorry. Yes led

  4. 1000 watts will effectively cover a 5x5 maybe a 6x6. Sure it’ll light your 6x12 area but par will drop off outside of that foot print. If you’re only growing 3 plant. I’d slim my sq ft. To a 4x4 or 5x5. And 1000 watter would rock that area for sure.

Hope this made sense, I’m kind of a stoner lol

  5. Sorry, read the above and quickly realized you weren’t talking about a hps. Disregard what I stated lol

  6. So if I close off a 4x4 area and light just that I should be good, right?

  7. 3 plants? 1000watts is a bit Overkill but hey. You may end up with some pro herb

  8. What brand of led are you running?

  9. Ok this is where I’m at. This is an experiment to see if I can grow. If it works I’d like to grow a few more than 3 at a time so if I could buy a bigger light now it’d save me a little. And I was thinking since it’ll be in a bigger room it may work. I’ve grown lots of things but never green and I’ve never used grow lights so I’m a little lost on the correct wattage of lighting I need.

  10. Still shopping at this point so any tips would be great!

  11. They say 100W per plant.

It's pretty easy to grow, my first time went well and I used to kill everything, although I didn't take previous things as serious.

Light is the most expensive so yah. Good light good light for long run! Any ideas?
I just bought a kit I liked, seemed well.

I would definitely line the walls with white paint or better yet, reflective Mylar.

  12. I’m definitely more excited about this than growing tomatoes so I’ll admit I’m a little intimidated. Mainly by the lighting I think I can handle everything else. I was mainly trying to avoid buying a light now and having to turn around a buy a bigger one for my next grow.

  13. I run much more than 1000W. more like 2000W of modern LEDs.
just to give u an idea

should only be 3 plants in there, but I'm just fkn around atm. I anticipate adding more lights, another 240 W surround the walls, and maybe a couple more 800 boards in the center, etc. I don't give a damn about power, I just grow weed to grow weed.

  14. Yeah them are some beasts. Suppose if you wanna grow beasts, your lights will need to be beasts hah.

  15. Thanks y’all!

  16. Don't buy the burple lights they are outdated and never really performed that well anyway. If you are comfortable with some very basic DIY you can get some top quality LEDs for very reasonable prices . Here's an example (the boards are available on Amazon even) .
This would be a good start to grow a couple plants.

It wont be a 1000 watts then probably, especially the blurple leds. Most led manufactures will list how many watts the diodes are able to handle and not what they actually use. They're ran at a lower wattage so the diodes last longer. Always check to see what the actual draw of the light is, that info will be buried in the small print somewhere

  18. I gotta second killset on the misrepresentation on wattage in these led lights. And while they work to an extent, there’s way better lights to be had for the same money. Blurples work but the light is nowhere near as intense as it looks to your eyes. Please get white lights!
