iPhone help! URGENT!

Discussion in 'General' started by Joe., May 31, 2009.

  1. Hey GC I REALLY want an iPhone but my 2 year contract with my Blackberry Pearl on ATT won't expire until November so the price will be $500 instead of $300 if I bought it at an ATT store or Best Buy.

Could I buy this phone online for $300 or possibly cheaper?
Would the SIM card work from my Blackberry to my new iPhone?
Could ATT set up the phone for me?

Could you guys just give me some tips or help on how I could go about doing this and maybe some good sites to buy an iPhone 3g 16gb from?

    Thanks!

  2. if your two year contract expires in november, then your probably eligable for a new phone upgrade now! thats how i got mine. You have to resign a new two year contract, but they'd be glad to commit you to another two years, even if it is early. go on ATT's website, login, and click phone upgrade - then see if your eligable. If you don't find your answer, go in the store and ask.

I wasn't even eligable for an upgrade (my first iphone got stolen within 3 months) - and i went into the store, and the guy hooked me up with the new phone upgrade price (8gb, $200)

  3. Went to Bestbuy and the guy said I wasn't eligible :(

  4. go to the AT&T store instead. Tell them your considering dropping ATT when it runs out, unless there was a way you could sign a new 2-year agreement now and buy an iPhone at the upgrade price. They usually will let you do this, they don't want to lose your business. Just say your willing to restart a new 2 year contract now if you could get the iPhone, and if not you want to switch to verizon and get ______ phone. I know a few people who have done this. The worst that can happen is you walk out empty handed - but you gotta play hardball - remember, they want your business

  5. Yeah that is a good idea what could I say I don't like their phones or something or their service? Good idea man thanks so muh.

  6. I just called my Dad and he said it wouldn't work because I am still on the family plan because it is so much cheaper and I still live at home (Senior) they wouldn't really buy into the fact that I would take off 4 phones for an iPhone so it wouldn't really work out. Any other ideas?
    Sorry for double post.

  7. This. I did this back in february, not only do you have to get a new 2 year contract in order to get an iPhone from there; but you also have to sign up for an unlimited data package..
its only like 10 bucks a month extra or so.

  8. Just get off of the family plan and get your own. Its a simple process when your in there. Took me about 10 minutes

  9. Wouldn't it cost a lot more for me to get my own plan? Is there anyway I can buy an iPhone online and take it to the ATT store and have them set it up?

  10. Its not even alot, just put aside an eigth every month to pay your bills, you know? Because if you buy your iPhone online and take it in you wont be able to have any sort of warranty. With something as expensive as an iPhone you should probably get it backed up with a warranty.

  11. Ug I'm probably going to have to wait till November. Does anyone know where I could buy and iPhone online?

  12. you sound rather spoiled. you get it in your head you want an iphone, but you cant wait.... and you already have 4 phones? what the fuck?

anyway just wait until the new iphone comes out. it will probably be announced this month.

  13. he has one phone? and is on a family plan with 3 other family members. I guess waiting for it isn't too bad, but yea you could just get your own plan if your 18 - which would mean you get the phone discount since your starting a new 2 year contract

  14. If you get an iPhone, be sure to scrub it with bleach and carboxylic acid to get rid of all the douchebag residue.

  15. I'm still on a old family plan with my Iphone, you just have to tack on an extra 25 for the data package and maybe more if you want texts.

  16. buy one off ebay, then jailbrake it.
thats what i did, and its worked fine for like 2 years.
    but i have a 1st gen

  17. I have an iphone and i'm on a family plan as well. the way i got mine was i used my mom's upgrade for my phone. they weren't really suppose to do this because they have to somehow transfer it to be your upgrade so you could you use your same sim, but if you get hooked up with someone whose nice enough, they will. see if anyone else on the family plan has an upgrade and is willing to give it to you.

also, if you wanted to just buy the iphone online or whatever, you would have trouble getting the media package that you HAVE to have with the iphone for all of the applications etc.

  18. the warranty is through at&t and i can't remember how much it is but its way too much, and paid monthly. it also doesn't cover lost, stolen, or water damage...WHAT ELSE IS THERE? my phone has worked fine since i got it 6 months ago and i haven't heard much of anything about them having tech difficulties because you can restart the phone completely if something happens.

  19. I'm pretty sure you would need to unlock it to work with the sim. And I might be wrong here, but I don't think they have figured out an unlock for the newer firmwares yet.

  20. Fuck the IPHONe, get a palm PRE.
