Not sure how many of you wrestler have heard of this travesty, so I thought I would share this with the city, knowing most wrestlers are stoners. Not only is wrestling one of the original modern Olympic Sports, but it is also one of the original ancient Olympic Sports. This is blasphemy considering sports like ping pong made the cut.. Yeah man, just came on here to make a thread if there wasn't already one. It's fucking hilarious honestly. They just dropped the first olympic sport in history... for fucking golf. Also, you're right. Wrestlers are definitely stoners though I don't meet a lot of em on this site. What weight did/do you wrestle?
It's some proper bull shit. It didn't phase me until I realized that between the deterioration of college wrestling and the elimination of olympic wrestling, the sport is quickly becoming an endangered species. I wrestled 130 lbs back in high school, I walked around at about 158. How about you man?
It's a load of crap. They have petitions going, but we have to compete with like 8 other bullshit sports for the spot. They fucked up big time.
NO. FUCK that! I wrestled varsity 160 all 4 years of highschool, those were the best times of my life man. Thats fucked up
It's so wrong. "In the view of the executive board, this was the best program for the Olympic Games in 2020. It's not a case of what's wrong with wrestling; it is what's right with the 25 core sports." What are they gonna drop next in order to make the Olympics 'right'? Sprinting? Swimming? Curling for god sake?!?
I've spent all day protesting, calling sponsors, IOC members, and FILA members. We still have a chance but the thing is is it never should be like this. It's an original Olympic sport and has connected and brought joy to millions. Wrestling needs the Olympics in order to survive and potentially survive.
this is disgusting... but it's not over. i have a feeling that the final rule of wrestling being out of olympics will not stand. in may IOC will be in russia to decide which sport or sports to propose for 2020. (if i was in the IOC i'd be scared shitless deciding against wrestling while in russia ) in the mean time, sign the two largest petitions: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/pe...ecision-drop-wrestling-olympics-2020/ClDPYshl http://www.change.org/petitions/the...ling-as-an-olympic-sport-saveolympicwrestling

Oh god I hope not. My faith not only in the Olympics but in all of humanity would be lost if this is true.
Much respect regardless of weight, us little guys scrap harder than any of those heavy weights. I keep hearing this talk of it coming back in 2020, but wrestling can't take another blow like this, as a sport already on the brink of extinction. The only positive I've seen come from this decision is that countries like Iran, Russia, and the USA, historic enemies, are all supporting one another for a mutual gain. It's good to see people rally together for a common goal.
I wrestle at 220/195 and I scrap much harder then most of the little guys on the team I've had matches go up to triple overtime while they just give up after the 2nd period
There are always teams where the lightweights are a bunch of little bitches, but in general what he said is pretty true. A lot of the heavyweights are just slow and sloppy... in high school especially. Of course that once again is a generality and doesn't necessarily refer to you.
