Hey guys APTgrow here. I've been lurking for quite a bit now and been trying to research as much as possible for my Micro DWC grow. Im currently doing a CFL veg stage and plan on going to a 250 watt hps bulb for flowering. As any first time grow, I've run into some problems. Some of the leaves on my plants look like either Nutrient burn or just Lockouts (had some ph regulation problems earlier on) and they're still fairly young. Our cabinet is also fairly small. I was wondering what the correct amount of plants to grow would be in order to have the highest yield. Dimensions on the cabinet are: 2ft. (from top of the bucket to bottom of HPS bulb) x 17" (w) x 17" (d) The plants are being held in a 3 gallon container. Lastly- Since it is limited space, would I be better off doing some sort of SCROG or LST method of growing? I would love to have some experienced growers on here help point me in the right direction. Pictures upon request! Thanks, and I look forward to posting here in the future!
High there, pictures sure would help you out I'd go through the journals section and see what other people are doing with their smaller setups. LST'ing should help you out Good luck
wassup!! seems like you could only fit about 1 plants in it, i would scrog, but your area is only 2 feet tall from bulb to bucket, so idk you might have alot of heat problems though, since you are using an HPS LST is not recommended in my opinion, unless you have some experience with growing, you could mess up and turn your plants hermie, and you don't want that, but u probably will have to LST. id recommend pruning, it would turn ur plant into a bonsai plant/ bush, and it would grow more outward then inward. In order to create a bonsai tree looking plant, u have to prune ur plant on both sides on about the 3rd week of veg, i'd say about 40% of leaves, never go past 50 since that could kill your plant, each new prune u make will allow new branches and new leaves to grow out, then u are to prune again about 4-5 week, then by the 7th week u'll notice ur plant starting to grow more outward more than inward. heres an example if u were to prune, let's say ur plant has 6 shoots, and its 3 nodes high, if u prune it u'll end up with 12 shoots. but remember pruning will lead to longer veg. could you post apic of your cabinet, i can't seem to imagine the size of it correctly in my head. -K
very nice, hopefully u get like 2-3 females for your grow which would be perfect. id use 2 to flower and your favorite plant id keep as a mother, to use as in future clones. id definately recommend a scrog for your set up, or LST which ever is easiest to you, but scrog is the way to go i think. you'll only be able to get only 2 plants in there. if everything works out you'll get about 3 ozs per plant or even more. make sure when you flower your plants are only about 4/10 the size of that closet, becuase flowering will double that right there to about 8/10 and if it gets to close to your bulb, major heat stress. your having nute burn, btw. check your PH for hydro should be about 5.8
Thanks for the words of encouragement, man. You basically reaffirmed my thoughts on what should be happening soon. As for the nute burn, I pulled a scrub move and didn't buy a PH tester until a little late in the game. Flushed them out with clean water for 24 hours and now I have a PH level of 5.6-.8 with nutes in, also bought some nitric acid just in case PH gets higher again.
here's an example of my setup, sorry this is only half of the pics i wanted to take, but my babies are sleeping so you gotta wait to get the indoor set up. here's the outer, on how i vent my 400w hps, from my tent. so basically, this is the vent that the hot air is blowing through from, it's connected to the lamp and cold air passes through it while coming out. another exhaust fan besides from the inside is attached, to keep air moving, and there another tube connected to the fan on the other side, and i eliminate the hot air through there. ill have the rest up later. so it's easier to piece together.
Hey guys I thought I would update you a bit on what's been going on. The grow box has gone from 6 babies to 3 to promote more growth. They're almost SCROG height. I have created a standby room for the other 3. Unfortunately shit seems to be going wrong. Wilting leaves and looked like the PH was a little out of whack for a bit. I think I've stabilized the environment but only time will tell... Anyway take a look at the progress, how much longer until sexing do you guys think?
