I prefer bongs as usually its a really clear high with pretty stoning effects; I would pick joints as a second choice because of their portability and the process of grinding and rolling your herb.

I really like Sour Diesel; I was lucky enough to smoke it my first time smoking bud. It just brings back all of the memories of smoking out of water bottle bongs and all of that.  The high is really really mellow which I love.
