Internet social anxiety

  1. Does this exist? Because I think I have it. I would elaborate on the details but I'm just nervous thinking about what you're probably thinking when you're reading this :smoke

  2. yeah it exists

  3. well i understand social anxiety....but the internet is a place where you can mask the part of you that most people see...the flesh, your appearance, your demeanor...none of that matters here.

This is all about thoughts conveyed through pixels, you can be whatever, whoever, you desire. Thing is...no one gives a fuck...so why should you?

Dunno...I'd be hard pressed to believe that internet social anxiety exists, when the way out is only a click of a button away.

  4. The Internet is the only place i CAN socialize. :)

  6. ehmn no, anxiety exist within a person, it doesn't flow from the fingertips into your profile picture.

a person can sit infront of a computer, writing, reading or watching something, and that can affect him/her in the real world, to press the buttons in a different kind of pattern, or clicking away or whatever.

but then again, i've seen enough to conclude that alot of people identify with their internet character of whatever kind, because even if their fleshy apparance isn't neccesarily present, the internet characters appearence is what people get to see, gets to review. and boy do alot of people like being reviewed.

its easier to communicate over the internet for me, i feel like a writer. i dont have to think about body language, and i get more time for processing thoughts and ideas.

i think you're just having a placebo, your internet character isn't real, you are, and if you identify with it, you become it. in your head. not on the internet.

Thats a good way to look at it. But I see it different.

What happens is, I'll join a community like GC, a discussion board per say, and I'll post a few topics. But then when people reply, idk what to reply so I usually don't.
This causes people to be like: this guy is annoying. So I'll just leave.
And my facebook is the same too. I usually never reply to anything anyone posts on my wall. And when people send me messages, intentionaly I dont reply until like 3 days later. Sometimes even a week. Just so they'll stop sending me messages.
Its weird. I hate the internet. But thats how i am in real life too.

  8. This is all because of Obama

  9. Sure it does. It's just normal social anxiety except that yours still exists even when socializing on the internet. :confused_2:

  10. You are just anti-social. But you're replying on here...soo....

Lol! Its the only place I feel comfortable chatting it up. When I feel like it.
But usually only when Im high.

  12. The internet is where I have the least social anxiety. While I don't for the most part, I feel a lot more comfortable posting certain shit on here than I would talking to people about it or even posting it on facebook. I've always had social anxiety. When I was a kid, about the only time I really talked to people a lot was online. It wasn't until I started smoking the herb that I started to come out of my shell and I'm still somewhat shy compared to other guys my age.

  13. Chat sucks though. I can't deal with what's basically stream of consciousness posts.
    It's why I love forums.

  14. if you can properly conceive it in your own head, then it exists by virtue of being in existence there, innit

  15. any form of social anxiety should not exist. i used to have social anxiety in person and on the internet, but since i grew up using the internet, it was a form to escape my real-world problems. i would sit at home and talk to people on messaging programs about how terrible my life was. on the other hand, there were a lot of easy internet bitches out there who would show some action for a couple weeks of constant interaction

  16. antiantisocial
