Internet at work

  1. What's the dealio? Can I browse my personal stuff at work without anyone knowing? For instance, if I wanna look at my grow journal on GC or check my emails. I clear the history and I'm really the only person who uses said computer, but occasionally my boss uses it too. Can they tell if I've been looking at a heavily MJ orientated website?!! Lol.

I have thus far refrained from doing so, but if I thought I could get away with it...;)

  2. Yea, if there is a network administrator where you work, he can browse in real time everything you do on your pc. There is this tunneling software called VNC which allows someone on a different computer to see everything that you do, and they can even control your computer from their keyboard as if they were actually there. Don't mean to make you paranoid, but i'm just letting you know that such a thing exists.

  3. It depends on where you work. I'm on the internet all the time at my job and no one's said anything to me. They don't check your history unless it comes up at IT services that you've been on porn or something like that. Check out your works policy, if you have an intranet site or whatever then it'll be on there. If not then just ask someone. Just don't tell them it's because you want to go on GC :p

  4. Thanks for the info guys! :D I think I'm probably safe then. We have no IT dept, (we barely have a department!) Certainly no network administrator and my boss is 84 years old with little to no IT experience. The computer is a shitty old laptop that they bought me so I could word process etc..

Let's just hope he doesn't get that VNC software! ;)

See yasall later, from work probably. :smoking: Now all I need to do is work out how to smoke while I'm there...

Anyone else spend their days at work on the internet? Or do I need an intervention?

  5. Should be no problem though, if you get a bit paranoid then just delete the history on the C drive or something. Seriously, I'm on the internet ALL THE TIME at work. So long as you get all your work done, no one will even notice or say anything. Happy surfing.
