International Mail Process

  1. I was looking for something today and as a byproduct of that search I ended up down a bunny hole. I did find a couple of things I found interesting. Here's two of 'em. If you also find these items interesting please pass on the info. I'm confident someone, somewhere, sometime, will appreciate that you did ;)

This is what caught my attention (the date is only slightly relevant IMO): Chicago CBP Officers Stop Drugs

So, I went searching the CBP databases and I came up with this (it's a word doc. go ahead and open it):

    Customs Inspections of Mailed Parcels

    IMO here are the takeway's:

    1. All packages and mail that are received into the US are immediately forwarded to a US CBP processing center where the packages are examined, xray'ed, and if necessary opened.

    2. There is a distinct definition and a distinct use of the words "shipping" and "mailing". Ensure you understand the definitions and if one is dealing with an overseas "merchant" please ensure you KNOW what their delivery system is - shipping or mail. I think this is very important for some people to understand and after reading I think you would agree.

So there you go. Now you know what happens when you order from an overseas company and what happens to that package they try to send you.

Be safe and good fortune. Bountiful harvests! G'day!

  2. I see a huge conflict here, the USPS is increasingly wanting us to use them, as email is putting them out of business. They advertise that they still exist, and that parcel post is fast and safe, use them and not UPS and Fedex and the like...this isn't a smooth thing that the government is doing, because it's going to make it's system crash.

  3. Well skunk I think what you say has a ring of truth to it but... when it comes to freedom and business success our gov't could give two shits whether individual freedom and democracy is sacrificed in the name of "national security".

Dontcha know - marijuana is an illegal drug that only "terrorists" and "riff raff" indulge in.

I always wondered about how certain delievery processes worked out and now that I know that ANY and ALL international mail is retrieved, sent to a special facility for examination, xray'ed, fondled, and possibly opened, I'm sure thinking that I would select using a brokered "shipper" to deliver my package. :) And with no 100% sense of security that the broker too isn't "examining" my mail. Phuc a dadgum duck!

Here's one more thing imbedded in the DOC. If by chance one should ever receive a letter suggesting that "they are "holding a package for delivery" and want one to come pick it up I'd suggest saying that someone is mistaken and that they don't know what the hell the CBP or US Mail folks are talking about. "Not mine" kind of response.

Just gotta be careful. Once one knows the system then one can work within it.

  4. Poss, when i got my seeds this time there was a sticker on the front saying that it had been inspected by customs and that the contents of the package contained a dvd case. Kinda scary, but I send them to a friends house anyways. Besides, how much trouble can you get into for a few seeds man? I get it that they could deliver, watch and getcha later, but not if u have them sent to a different address. Regardless, Ill be ordering my seeds from right here in the US from now on anyways. I see maybe a Bear in my future

  5. Possuum,

I moved this thread here to Seed Banks......it's some good information and it will be more visible to more people here.

  6. Howdy Chunk! Thanks mate. IDK if any of this information is "new" information. Perhaps I was the last person to know LOL (per usual). Interesting if nothing else.

    Cheers BigDaddY :)

  7. Probably not too much trouble Irie. IDK. Didn't mean to throw folks a curve ball and get 'em all paranoid and shit. Sorry if that was the affect. However, it is probably best to know these types of trivia so one can make good decisions. And perhaps the best to know of all out of this is to use the "shipper" method so that a third-party broker can clear the item versus the CBP. Perhaps that's the big news here.

Somebody orders 5, 10 seeds the CBP guy may never see it. Somebody orders 500 seeds and things might change. Maybe they have another phriggin' database they log this info into so they can track shipping to a single address. IDK. IOW, too many seeds at once or on to frequent a cycle might prompt a response as in, "This is way more seeds than a medical user needs. Let's go talk to this person and find out what they're doing."

I'm thinking the folks in Europe probably understand international mailing/shipping processes a lot better than us folks in the US. Maybe. For me it was a "eureka" moment!

Every - single - piece - of - mail - from - an - international address - is diverted - to - a - SPECIAL PLACE - where people wearing uniforms being paid by the FEDERAL gov't - look, fondle, xray, open, and inspect - ALL - packages. That is it in a nutshell!

On a side note. Anyone here ever apply for a TOP SECRET (or higher) security clearance? I have and had an active one for 6.5 years. You know what. The FBI did in fact go back to my first grade school and begin from there tracking down every single thing I HAD to account for in my life (people, places, events, trouble with the law as a juvenile, etc, etc, etc). And they came back to me and asked for clarification on several things I "convientently" omitted. "Oh yeah. I forgot about that incident".

Do not ever think those people can not find out anything the want. They have the job, they have the title, they have the technology, they have the patience. That's what they do. It's what they get paid for.

Just be fuckin' careful people. There ain't nothin' free in this life and there damn sure ain't nothin' easy about it either. Just be careful.

Caveat Emptor! Peace and Cheers :D

  8. It's not all 'new', it's the most complete I've ever seen though. I think people all had some concepts about what our beans go thru to get here, but the blades in this section are VERY up to date on where, when, how, why to ship what...and I'm sure they will all read the 'doc'.

Read it you guys, it's very interesting...
