Interesting experiment...

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by MayorMcStoned, Oct 22, 2014.

  1. Has anyone ever successfully ran a dwc system without a ppm meter? I've been doing it as an experiment for the past few days and my seedlings are looking fantastic. Five days old and I'm already getting crazy root growth. I don't really expect anything from these, other than to kill 'em.

The only measurements I've taken are pH.

I already have my soil grow goin, i've already got healthy mothers of the strains i wanna continue growing and had a little extra space, so I figured why the hell not?!

Feel free to dish out any advice, questions or hate. I can take it.

Hope all y'all are having a great day!

  2. Read the plant not the meters, right? Haha.

  3. Lol, basically, I'm trying to use the force.

But really, I've worked with this strain before and very rarely do I make strict schedules I have to adhere to when it comes to growing. Granted, I've never done it this way hydroponically, but eh, I already have bud stacked, and a good harvest on the way, so why the hell not?

  4. I tried this at the beginning because I spent a shit ton but ran into problems eventually.

  5. I've completed a soil grow and am building up a perpetual right now with no temp/humidity meters. Not quite the same as working without ppm for hydro - but I can at least read my plants haha.

I'm kinda expecting this to happen, especially if they make it to flowering/flushing. I'm not opposed to spending money, but I have about 8-9 weeks left in my current soil grow until I have the room to do a hydro run. I gotta have something to keep me on my toes, right?

That's awesome! Was it your first soil grow? I've done a lot of 'em and am just looking to switch it up a bit. I'm thinking next round I'll do a right and proper dwc grow. I'm curious to see how this strain (strawberry cough x chem dog) will react to hydro.

  7. Yeah, first grow, organic water only. 3 micro plants, took a beating, still yielded me 7.9g dry, some of the best smoke I've had too haha, and I loved my dealers bud..

lol I'm doing the same. But it all ways felt so cool in tent and not humid at all so I never bothered. My room stays cold. I do plan on getting one eventually. They have one you can keep on the outside but measures the inside pretty cool.

  9. Nothing better than smoking your own bud. My first go around yielded me about 1/2 oz between 4 plants. It was not pretty at all. But it was still the best I had ever had, because I grew that shit. Dang. That was almost 7 years ago...

Its so awesome that with a little bit of love and attention, you can turn a tiny seed into 4+ ounces of smoke.

  10. I know I fucked up and did my scrogging totally wrong being first grow. Then in flower it blew up in height. Total noob mistake couldn't raise light anymore and some got burned. D:

  11. I had my plants out to water, and was messing around with mint essential oil... I was stoned and had some stupid thought that it would deter bugs if I put a few drops on the soil surface... Well I got a few drops on some major branches of all 3, lost a total of 4 tops, and the plants were sick for 2 weeks - just as they recovered I tossed them into flower impatiently.... I figured I'd just take the loss and reveg them as mothers - get a good grow with the same genetics with clones.

I actually had 2 bag seeds that I set outdoors 2 weeks after the others were planted.... I brought one inside because it fit, and we've been getting frosts. The other was too large so I've been super careful with the weather to bring her in on cold nights. I messed around with super cropping on a few branches and topped her 3-4 times, otherwise I didn't do much with her - no pest management, topdressed with EWC once.... Here she is....
