What's up Blades I should have seen this coming a long time ago..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hvSwpDXOS4&feature=related]YouTube - Eigenlabs Part 2: Eigenharp Alpha[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avQwj45M-j0[/ame] "Real" music today is almost dead. There are still sooo many music artist today who I love, and have their heads on straight. But as for the majority of musicians today, especially mainstream, absolutely SUCK. Music/skill/lyrically/ are terrible. Music today is being replaced by computers and electronic technology. Who's to say that in the next 50 years ALL instruments will be electronic? Could you guy a guitar that still has strings on it?? What the hell are strings??? This video just pissed me off. This "instrument" can do everything Pretty much play ANY musical instrument, you can loop tracks, loop vocals, record, drum beats, flute, piano, vibrato, plug it into your computer and upload music & beats, the back of the guitar has a custom slide sensor where you can set any effect and slide up and down for the intensity. It's just fucking outrageous. It can do 1000s of effects & sounds. It can probably even wipe your own ass if you program it correctly. I'm not saying that this technology isn't AMAZING or is a piece of shit. Music is my life. I'm just saying I think this technology is a cheap way to create music. It doesn't require as much skill/talent/or appreciation instead of buying a guitar or piano. I don't want to go to a concert in 10 years and see 4 kids on stage playing these fake instruments.......I guarantee you my little sister could pick that thing up, throw on some sweet effects, and then just start randomly tapping shit, and it would sound like Beethoven is fucking playing What's your guys opinions Blades??? I sure hope all music doesn't eventually turn into this in the future.......
Well, i'm with you that music today sucks, for the most part. pretty much everything on the radio sucks. but i don't like attacking computers and technology. it's only the tool used to make music. it doesn't make the music itself. and making electronic music is definitely not easy, i've been doing it for the last year and a half. it's one of those things, it's easy to start but difficult to master. and at what point do we draw the line on technology in music? I mean, we invented the electric guitar, the electronic keyboard, and i don't see anyone making a big fuss about those.
for me technology & computers are fine, on a computer. But when we get to the point where we don't even need to pluck a string for a guitar. Instead just tapping a button. That is where I would like to draw the line
I was just talking about guitar specifically in that last post. Technology is just invented to make 'whatever' we do, easier. Which also decreases skill/technical abilities. This instrument is at least 3-4 times easier then just picking up a regular guitar. I'm just saying when does it cross the line of making 'things' TOO EASY.
The eigenharp is just a ridiculously complicated and amazing midi controller, all it does is control paramaters and notes for software instruments on a computer. I think it's really stupid when people complain about computers combining with music, its so inevitable. I don't see anyone complaining about movies being basically entirely computer generated, why should music be any different. Conventional instruments are still really important but theres no reason we shouldn't be combining everything and taking music to new places. And if its really easy for a beginner to pick up, imagine how much better someone whos skilled at it can get
ohhhhh my fucking god that was sooo horrible its still playing and my face is just like constantly cringing. That technology is pretty amazing and interesting but i mean this idiot proves you can still clearly not play an instrument even if it does everything for you. that wasn't music. that was just random "cool" sounding effects and shit ugghh i can't even begin to explain how many ways that was bad. Im sure if people practiced this some talented people could play some pretty interesting and cool music. I would respect the music they make and the ideas in their head, but i definitely wouldn't see them as talented at an instrument. you can't put real passion into such a fake instrument unlike a guitar or a piano or bass or something. BTW i was talking about the second video he posted when i was complaining about the music
Check out Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater kicking ass on a Continuum [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW1KeRNaP-Q]YouTube - Jordan Rudess Continuum spectacular[/ame]
Yeah, Jordan Rudess, professional keyboardist. He could absolutely DEMOLISH me when it comes to a real piano/keyboard. a fucking PHENOMENAL pianist. But that video...... He should be embarrassed. It reminded me of a toy for a 13 year old. It looked like something EASIER skill wise, then what you would find a kid playing on guitar hero. WTF?! I could easily play that "solo", you could probably easily play that solo. He was tapping with one or two fingers at the most. And then the rest of the time he was just sliding he hands up & down, equivalent to what noises a 6 year old could also make on one of those.
