Instructions for making a rather small vaporizer (not lightbulb)

I used the bottom of a chili can for the bottom part. A hookah hoose for the the hose. A soldering iron for the heating element. Some wood, clear hose and a jar to make this little guy. It works pretty damn good too! :hello:

    How I did it:

Note: I figure that the best way for other people to make it. Is not actually the way I made it. I spent a whole evening on mine and that is way to long for me. With these instructions I will try to give you a good

understanding of how to make a vaporizer but you will still have alot of options while making it and you can always get creative and make it a bit different.

What you will need to make this:
Materials: Aluminium can, Soldering iron with screw on tip, Jar with lid that fits snugly in can (it would be easier to use a single piece lid instead of the two piece lid I used), Electrical tape or duct tape, Some sort of hose, A screw that fits in the tip of the soldering iron. Something that can be used as a bowl (ex: the bowl part of a little metal measuring spoon)

Tools: I used my dremel for almost every part of it, but If you dont have a dremel you can just use a power drill to make the holes. Or possibly even a screwdriver if you get real creative. You could also use a hack saw to cut the can and soldering iron. Wire cutter or scissors

Good music and being high is also sugested while making this.:smoking:

    Step 1
Cut the soldering iron body so you can take out the wires and make it much smaller. While doing this be careful that you dont cut the wires inside of it though.

    Step 2
Cut the can an inch or two up from the bottom (this will vary with the soldering iron used, just make sure that there is enough room for the top of the iron and a bit of extra room for wires and such.
It should look something like this:

    Step 3
You now are going to have to make two holes in the bottom of the can that you just cut off. One for the hose to go through, and the other for power cord.

    Step 4
Cut the power cord for the soldering iron. Make sure you mark the at least one side one each side of the cut cord though, so you can be sure to connect the wires back to the original one. You then trim the ruber coating of the wires. To do this you can just use one of the wire cutter things or carefully use a scissors. Then you put the wires through the hole and connect the wires back together by twisting them, then you wrap them with tape. You can see the wires wrapped in tape in the previous picture if you are getting confused.

    Step 5
This is the part that I messed up on when I did mine, I made a wooden disk for support that took a while to make and dosent work that well. Instead of using a wooden disk you can just get a jar with a one piece lid and drill two holes in it. One for the hose to come into the jar with and one for the soldering iron heating shaft to go through. It is probably best to put the soldering iron hole in the middle and then the hose one off to the side. One important thing to note at this stage is to make sure the hole for the hose is far enough away to where the hose will not toutch the heating element. If that happens you will just inhale alot of bad fumes.

You can see the two holes drilled in the lid in that picture. You can also see the lightbulb that I wired into the soldering iron cord. Later I will turn this into a status light to see whether or not it is on (I am also adding an on/off switch).

    Step 6
Now for the assembly. You first slide the plastic hose in through its hole in the can. Next you slide the lid down the shaft of the soldering iron. Then you put the hose through its hole in the lid.

Step 7 Now take the measuring spoon, or whatever you are using for a bowl and drill a hole in the middle of it. Then use the screw and attach it to the soldering iron.

Now you are pretty much done unless I forgot something (I probably did )

Just plug it in and wait for it to heat up a bit. The put some bud in the bowl. Screw on the jar over it as quickly as possible. Wait tell you see some vapor and then suck.

If you have any questions or comments just post them or pm me and ill be happy to address them. +rep is always appreciated too! Now stop reading and go build one of these!:smoking:

  2. holy shit dude, nice.

how good does it work? what was the total cost of all the stuff?

  3. It works way better than a light bulb vaporizer. But I have never used a real one so I cant compare it to the store bought ones. And I really dont know about the total cost of everything. I think you should beable to get everything for under or around 20 bucks if you shop around for the soldering iron though.

  4. doesnt it need a carb or sumthing?!?!?! im confused and gonna try and make this tonight

    shit.. :p

  5. damnit i cant find my solder pen :(*

  6. Thats awesome man, im making one tomarrow. +rep for you

  7. take it up a notch dude

make or buy a replacement cover and whip for the vaporbro or warez and house it all in the can so you simply slide the whip loaded with herb in the cans led lit port hole lol

same size and you seperate the wiring and handle from the hot air path in the conduction to convection based vaporizer conversion

also hit up radioshack or maples online part cataglog for rheostats that have a rating a bit above your soldering iron

total extra cost would be 3-5 for rheo 15-20 for whip and 10 or so for the glass condom thing (you could drill or heat and pop a hole in some test tube to make it)

any loose fit you get of tube to soldering iron can be fixed with either heating and a light push of a paperclip tip to make a nib that touches the iron or bic lighter saftey bits bent to shape with pliers

  8. gota love the search button been wantin to make one of these for a while and finaly found a thread on how to do it

  9. lol, whats with the "Dungeonporn" name in the photobucket? lol

  10. that is damn cool. rep for innovation
