Insomniac in Santa Cruz

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by garlicinsc, Nov 4, 2010.

  1. Ok Im sorry for this post if its somewhere else, I searched but did not really find anything that answered all of my questions. I checked the Do you Qualify list, it did not list Insomnia in California, but I know people get it for it. I have had insomnia for a couple years and recently got a prescription for sleeping pills. I used to take OTC but would stop cuz I didnt want to become depend. LOL I am very paranoid. So I wanted to know, do I need to actually get those medical records to get a rec from a doctor? I am also not going to my primary doctor cuz my parents go there and he is old and idk I think he would talk if I asked any such questions. Again remember I am paranoid. BAHA:(. Would I be able to just bring in my prescription bottle as proof? And then after if I do get the rec, do I get a card to along with the paper, or do I have to go somewhere else for a card? The card is optional right? Also a lot of people have said dont go to Medicann or Compassionate Health Options due to bad experiences. Since Prop 19 didnt get approved I really think I am gonna get a card. So please guys help me out, let me know of some good clinics. The pills I take make me super tired in the morning and when smoking I wake up more easily. Any advice would help. I need better more natural medicine.

  2. Those are YOUR medical records! Just tell your doctor you are going to see a specialist about the headaches and insomnia and you want a copy of the records!

Your primary doctor CANNOT legally discuss you medical conditions with your parents unless you are a minor, or you give him permission! He could lose his license if he did!

A reputable cannabis specialist will require medical records. For many MMJ doctors, a prescription pill bottle will be enough, however (call and talk to the receptionist, she'll know what her doctor will accept). Any doctor who does not require medical proof of your conditions is likely to be "shady". Here's some doctors who are cannabis friendly-

After your appointment with the cannabis specialist, you pay the receptionist and she hands you your recommendation. It is all you need to be legal. The "country card" is an unnecessary expense, unless you are a "cop magnet". I don't have a "county card".

Dispensaries also issue their own, usually free, ID cards. They identify you as a valid MMJ patient at their dispensary. When you go to a dispensary for the first time, take your original recommendation and ID with you, and go during your doctor's normal business hours. The dispensary will call the doctor up to verify that you are his patient. Once verified, they give you a card and you are free to purchase your cannabis. :smoke:

  3. Insomnia is usually covered under the "...And any other condition" statute in California, so you should be fine if you go to a reputable doc.
