Insect problem

  1. two of my leaves contain these tiny white spots on them which are said to be the property of one of the most dangerous pests. I read about their natural predator being a useful solution but i wouldnt know where to find them or buy them. can anyone please recommend me a solution against these pests? i think theyre called spider somethings...

also, how much time do i have before the problem gets to a seriously bad stage? at the moment only two leaves have it, on only half a strand of the leaf each.

thx a lot to anyone who can help.

  2. their called spider mites. I just had a bunch of those lil bastards almost kill my babies. What you need to do ASAP, is get some bleach dilute it to like 2% in water and spray it AROUND your plants grow area (if inside) do NOT spray on the plants. Then what you need to do is get some mite spray (theres many kinds and some are illegal now) and mist the plants with them in the evening. Check the next day and if there still there repeat both treatments. If you let them survive very long the will destroy your crops within weeks (i believe).

  3. thx man, i got myself some mites which apparently eat the spider mites and received them yesterday in small containers. i spread some of the contents, which looked like cereal food to me, onto the plant in hope of the spider mites being soon devoured by their natural predator.

are you aware of that method? cos im not entirely sure i am doing it right and i wouldnt like to infest my growing room with a new kind of spider if they survive for long.

  4. They are called phytoseiulius, a predatory mite that feeds on the red spider mite.

Apparently they are great in an enclosed environment, like your growing room or a greenhouse. Not much use to us outdoor growers, the little buggers clear off.
