Could be genetic. I had one that did something similar. Don't kill it. Mine grew out and even though it was smaller it was awesome stuff.
the one I had was always weird but it did just fine. I said don't kill because a lot of people would kill it. Here was mine last year. http://forum.grasscity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=823188&d=1329941227 In my case the yellow was speckled through out.
