This thread is dedicated to sharing green technology and clean energy.

Many awsome technologies are constantly being invented to help clean rain forrests, make farming more efficient, and preserve the beauty of our planet.

Such technologies include aquaponics, green houses, sky rise farming, solar and wind energy. The list goes on.

    Post pics and articles.

Ill start with a picture of my own personal success, and then ill try to find soelmething cool to post.

    Here is my aquaponic garden.

Thats a tomato. I dont seem to have a picture of my bed. Ill take one when i get home.

Ive succesfully created an enviroment that supports fish and plants in the middle of tje dry 120 desert with little to no water loss and only a water pump and bubbler for energy consumption.

I dont add food. They eat algae and bugs.

<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote' >By the year 2050, nearly 80% of the earth's population will reside in urban centers. Applying the most conservative estimates to current demographic trends, the human population will increase by about 3 billion

people during the interim. An estimated 10 9 hectares of new land (about 20% more land than is represented by the country of Brazil) will be needed to grow enough food to feed them, if traditional farming practices continue as they are practiced today. At present, throughout the world, over 80% of the land that is suitable for raising crops is in use (sources: FAO and NASA). Historically, some 15% of that has been laid waste by poor management practices. What can be done to avoid this impending disaster?

Bringing mind and enviroment to mars. Its beautiful.

Soon earth life will spread like a fire through our dead universe.

Id love to go to mars but i think ill be missiblng out on this one.

Maybe my kids will get rich and send.me on vacation there lol

Thank you. I'm only using this network of computers for what I believe the internet should be used for. Everything I posted has been shared to me on facebook. I just shared it again. I get a ton of super interesting stuff shared with me, I tried to only post things that were relevant.

I had no idea that this thread was reactionary when I posted all of those links, but after reading sushi's "anti industrial" thread, I am glad I posted as many links as I did. sushi reminds me of a flatmate of my brother, that has been convinced (by a YouTube video, for fuck's sake) that some guy is channeling the spirit of a celestial being that resides in a distant star somewhere.

  9. Solar power has amazing potential.

I read one statistic that the sun produces over 1000kw hours per squar meter on earth.

Considering plants only use red and blue light, thats like less then a percent of the total energy spectrum.

How many plants could we grow in a high rise if we converted the majority of tje suns energy into red and blue leds?

The sheer scale of the total ammount of energy the sun produces is rediculous.

We could power the entire planet with less then a perxent of a percent of a percent

The key is learning how to harvest this energy

  10. Solar power used properly worldwide would provide us with 100 times the power we need to keep society moving.

  11. Yup.

And if we even harnessed 1% of the sun's total radiation we would have enough power for interplanetary civilization.

Fully colonize earth mars the moon. Space stations galor

God only know what we can do with 8-9% of the suns energy

  14. I saw that its awesome I have started researching aquaponics myself would love to do a large setup on my land and have a tilapia pond. You use any sprays likeneem oil or spinosad? Probably woud help. Not too informed on lacewings myself.

  16. Cool, I live near Lawrence Livermore (LLNL)

Pretty crazy to hear an explosion followed by sirens. I'm less than a mile away, so this is the stuff that makes up my nightmares. Apparently they're doing some cool stuff there.

  17. This issue is currently being debated in Denmark. There are some possible health risks regarding low-frequency sounds generated by wind turbines. (Possible meaning that there is no scientific report yet to prove a casual link between symptoms reported by the neighbours to big wind turbines and the generated noise). It seems that the noise-problem is related to the big wind-turbines (2MW+) that produce more low-frequency sounds then smaller turbines. We are talking about frequencies from 20 to 200 Hz. Those are the frequencies that most houses are not sufficiently insulated from. If the level exceeds 20 dB(A) (inside the house) it can induce several (stress-related) symptoms
