Also it's pretty high tagged equip. So attempting many tries to play with things to seek results is a no no, as I have done with cfl but performance was crap and HPS was my first option (opting for 600w) but read about RI so I said never mind bout that (rent basement/got high end 2015 Samsung 4K, 2 1080ps so don't wanna ruin those, wifi, iPhones/androids/iPad/laptops/PS4/PS3/Wii/X1 etc.) **unless all these newer devices( listed my high $$$ items) don't get ruined by HPS then I may switch lights but now LED is my go to & 100% safer*** stealth, skill, patience, intelligence, efficiency & staying one step ahead is what I'm all about right now! I know many people will say you need practice but really not to be cocky but I was blessed thanks to God with the ability to adapt and learn quick, have been in so many job fields and never had problems.. Throw me in the pit and I'll find a way out ;P ... So I'm the type if I see you do it once I learn and remember whether in theory or practice.. So I just want what you guys would do, suggest or think I need to do or change. I have learned all there is to this other than actually doing it, kinda like a college boy ! So don't tell me or ask me to go to soil or learn first or search techniques as I've done all that. Appreciate all the help and feedback, as I see it, I have put the best of all worlds to get the best results I can afford and find space for!
How are you only going to flower for 4 weeks?! Most of my strains take 9-12 weeks to ripen once I switch to 12-12. I mean I could harvest early but that would just mean I'd be wasting my time. I use tents. They are great for containing light leaks and are pretty cheap! eBay has some terrific deals on LED lights and tents. I use soil, just Promix hp and 20 gallon pots. That way I don't have to mess with feeding too much. I like to veg my plants out nice and big and flower them even bigger! Helps me stay within the technicalities of the law where I live. Btw, not saying to go with soil, it's just what I've been using for the very short time I have been growing. I do use led lights though. Just some cheap Mars hydro reflector 192s and some other smaller panels and ufos. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
If you do want to harvest within 8 weeks of the seed sprouting then you will have to go with and auto. The problem is they are not all that reliable and produce a small amount in comparison to a photoperiod gal. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I have been practicing with home plants and tomatoes, did cfl but due to space and light output, it never was optimal. HPS is too bait for me, I do not intend on invensting 1K+ Just to get stopped because people & my landlord (house) want their cable & wifi as well as I got many electronics and high end ones so I do not want to ruin or interfere with them. I thought a lot about autos but as I did more research and got hang of usual op's, I realized even fems are not 100% even though I used to think they saved you time (sure do of course if you get what you bought!) but like you said you're prone to duds just like taking your chance with a bag seed, the thing is I figured it like this: for every month/2 that flies by, I spend a lot of money smoking and still have to hold back smoking or sacrifice more money. Every month that passes by could be a seed/clone in veg/flower. Now about practice, I intend starting this as my practice after this I will invest same equip so. I can have 1 clone in veg same time 1 flowers, then once flowered the veg'd one goes into flower while another clone goes in to replace it, producing one nice stock every 5 or so weeks, as that's my main intention, but before going into a complicated big system, I wanna practice with smaller one. The way I see it 2x2 = 250w & 3x3 = 400w, so that mean I'm giving my plant x4 the light for its space, speeding growth with hydro method, well controlled environment, all Nutes/water/light/air going to ONE main plant, that should save atleast 1-2week no? Or atleast create great results using this extra 1-2 weeks that it could save? As in better efficiency? And as for strains, what are one you suggest? (Potency, height, yield, etc.) Once I manage smell 100% I will be able to grow whichever without problem. Plan for big tent with same footprint as this setup but 2 of them side to side so I can just go inside and be zipped up from outside with a carbon filter exhaust to double filter what's coming out with cool air still coming from main space not text, but that's for another time! Also @budgetgrow , I know most people take about 11-13week total grow time for quick batch, even more of course for better results, but due to my space for now (as dimensions stated) I can only grow 35-40 inch max plant, can I VEG 40 Days(or 15inch) & FLOWER 30-35 days? Now I know that may not be huge, but lollipop'd well, good scrog screen, I can grow some huge buds.I plan on helping the plant support the buds by tying the branches(so they space out well), or would just lollipop be good for that space? I planned letting it grow naturally but then figured with that space, I could spread out the plant well. (Bit bigger space& I would've put 2x5gal and let them just turn into a forest but unfortunately can't. So is 10-11 weeks total enough time? I also read many people flip once plant is to desired height. Btw, thank you Guys for your input earlier ! Hope to get more help!
@budgetgrow , also what do you think about ak48 auto? Good yield? How about blueberry auto's? I'm not too much for auto's anymore but wouldn't mind it just due to the fact I can see how the setup produces results, but 1K+ I'd atleast like to make back half of that Lool! If you can feel what I mean you know I was planning on starting with nirvana's Master Kush, as I like that strain, haven't had in time & read it's good yield, but I could be wrong?
Flowering takes as long as yet takes. I have not come across anything for a regular photoperiod strain that can flower that quickly. Harvesting early means it won't be potent at all... Marijuana needs 60-70 days (some strains need more) for a bud to fully mature and ripen. Then you need 4-6 days of drying and 7-14 days for curing. (I'm going minimal here, I cure my bud for at least a month) You're facing a minimum of three months in between beginning flowering to having amicable product. Probably best to go with photoperiod seeds, as they are capable of producing more and can be trained to maximize the potential of your 400w light.
Why is it u think plants flower in 5 weeks? It will take at least 8 weeks to get mature bud/trichs, most take a little longer. Your plants will only grow upwards for the first 2-3 weeks of flower. From there they start to build nugs. Good luck with everything
Thanks for the tips everyone! && @Ryan0o well if it's 8 week flower, 3 week growth/5 week, can I minimize VEG time, down to 2-3 weeks, flip to 12/12, let it stretch a bit more for those 3 weeks (total growth time: 6weeks) & let it go for another 5-6 weeks to harvest? I know how the plants work, but due to where I am & it not being my own home, I'm not able to let my plant go 4wkVEG//8wkFLOWER minimum (would love to grow a monster one of atleast 9-12 zips / 6-8week veg/ 10-12 week flower in 20 Gal 10 inch pot dwc) because that would be too big. I have my baby in my room & I share rent wth a friend, which occupies the only room that could be used for this (remember it's a basement too lol!). So I'm at a 35 inch MAX height for my plant at end of harvest, my lights are LED & though people say and put them closer to plants, I don't want to risk it and keeping at minimum 12 inch away, bucket is 15 inch high so only leave me 35 inches for plant growth out of 67-68 inches. So I want to know best schedule or method you guys think would suit me if what I have down is wrong (growing method not setup). For $1000+ of a setup I want to be atleast to get atleast half of that back. 400w of power in 3.36 sq ft is more than plenty, 5gal for a 35 inch plant seems more than enough with 15L/m air supply (changed air pump), about 200cfm of air intake, 5w LEDs, 10 Inch Net Pot, all I'm missing is the strain to thrive in this environment & grow plan to succeed. I understand and know that we need 11-13 weeks total op time, but if I can only grow 35 inch plant, how do I go about my growth time? 12 weeks would be 3+ feet of a plant, I can only 2.1 feet MAX without starting to get the plant into light danger zone. So please with that, can you help me figure out how to go about my grow. I figured Scrog net, lollipoping & big of LST with branches tied to support nugs, I could do well with that size of a plant and space. Now don't get me wrong, I'm also investing this much so grow can go well with much less chance of screw up due to error with good equip, so I doubled light output and plant growth with watts, LED, & hydro grow method. Also, I'm getting about 122w/sq ft, is this correct? I first got 40-42w but I read you calculate L x W (eg. 1x1 *no height*) so mine is now 2.1ft x 1.6ft = 3.36 ft sq, which give me a about 122watt per ft sq , is this correct or no? Because that is a lot and should speed things up and create great growth no? I also understand too much of a good thing can be bad, so I would like to know. Also @MayorMcStoned , what are some good strains I could use? As for odour, I'm using carbon filters 200cfm with 190cfm fan, is that enough to control dank with keep up of chanching the cans? For that reason too I listed some auto's and some fem's that stink but not insane, though I would me stinky dank fruits since I love me buds that are fire and have so many strains on my hit list, but without knowing how the dank will go I'm not 100% confident of growing just any strain. I was planning building set up first and blowing a popper(tabbaco piece with weed packed on top in big piece without bowl piece) and blow in there with fans on (intake/exhaust) and closing to see if I smell anything out of the box, but would this dirty my can a whole lot? I know Tabbaco resin is horrible but also thought it'd make a good test lol !
I've been going through red eyed genetics breeding lines recently and found they do incredible work. Every pack of beans I've gotten from em has multiple keeper phenotypes, and it's been a pleasure growing em. Check out Oregon elite seeds. The website stocks their shit. They only breed glregular seeds though, nothing feminized, but it's not really that difficult to make your own feminized seeds with colloidal silver after a run.
