. LINK TO INDIE MIX HERE I know Indie isn't the most popular genre around here but for those that are interested. I compiled a mix for my girl (at her request) and just wanted to share it with the GC. Indie seems like a pretty broad umbrella... I mean some of the tracks in this mix are pure folk, or pop or alternative or electro mixed in with some sort of rock influence I guess. But I think as a whole can be lumped into indie? I dunno. Here's the mix anyway if you're interested... even if you're not check it out... why not? p.s. If anyone's interested in a track list let me know and I'll post it up Enjoy
Right on... wasn't sure if there'd be any takers Admittedly, it's a little on the "soft" side, (it was for my girl after all) but there are some jams for sure. And as you've requested: Heartbeats - The Knife Walking On A Dream - Empire of the Sun Transmission (Joy Division Cover) - Hot Chip My Night with the Prostitute From Marseille - Beirut Blue Ridge Mountains - Fleet Foxes Skinny Love - Bon Iver The Reeling - Passion Pit Ulysses - Franz Ferdinand Paris - Friendly Fires 1901 - Phoenix Knocked Up (Rodeo Remix) - Lykke Li (Kings of Leon) Help I'm Alive - Metric We Own The Sky - M83 Nothing to Worry About - Peter Bjorn and John I've Seen Enough - Cold War Kids M.E.X.I.C.O. - The Kills No Love Lost (Joy Division Cover) - LCD Soundsystem Ghost Under Rocks - Ra Ra Riot When I Grow Up - Fever Ray Brandy Of The Damned - Nickel Eye
i like 90s indie. its my favorite genre, but nowadays the word indie is throw around so much and can mean anything from the strokes to a girl playing a xylophone accompanied by a french harpist. here are some of my favorites: Pavement Archers of Loaf Built to Spill Dinosaur Jr. Guided by Voices Silver Jews Sebadoh Neutral Milk Hotel
lol @ french harpist /agree about the "indie" tag. It's stupidly broad nowadays... which is kinda why I used it with this mix... it's a wide spectrum of music from mostly independent record labels. ...and that list of yours totally brings me back to highschool... half those bands were in my favorite oldschool skate & surf vids. (and often playing in my "discman" ) btw.. have you had a chance to listen to dinosaur jr.'s new album (Farm)? decent... definitely a throwback to that era... but kind of a let down imho.
