Well hear me out here's my plan for next year. I'm really hyped up. I wish I would have started one this year, but did not have the time. I'll break it down into steps or what ever so it's easier for you to read. Seeds: I plan on using Bubblegum if I can get them.(Strain Originated in Indiana) Soil: Fox Farms Ocean Forest. With about 20% Perlite. Nutrients: Fox Farms Trio. 1. I plan on germinating in normal method. Paper towel. 2. Plan on starting in solo cups using just ocean forest. I will set these all outside in a tub. Since I can't start inside. 3. When they get big enough. Will take them out to the plot. 4. Will dig a 2x2 whole and mix up the same 20% perlite and ocean forest. 5. I will than water every 5-6 days or when the soil feels dry. 6. After about 3-4 weeks total I will use about 50% dose of the fox farm after every 2 watering. Questions. --------- 1. Any cheaper soil anyone can reccomend that provides same results. 2. When should I use the fox farm nutrients and how often. The guide is too hard to follow. I will read probably about an hour every night till next grow season. So I will be an expert by than .
Ky here indiana. First, i would nix the Bubblegum strain. Its late and low yeilding with a buzz that can be obtained with better strains for outdoor in our enviroment, at least in my opinion. What is it youre looking for in the bbubblegum? Euphoric couchlock? Well, Flo from Dp is a much better plant and finishes in late sept. Tasty as hell too. Sunshine grow mix is a good soil that cost much less and is sold in a bale. While there are certainly far better soils, there are none easier or cheaper than miracle grow or stagreen, especially if placed in the whole this fall with a 1/2 cup of lime added. Come spring, its good shit and ive harvested many a pound by digging a hole, dumping in a 3cu ft bag of mg and harvesting a lb in oct without ever fertilizing. Easy as hell. Add a few ferts along the way and you'll end up with a nice result. Its my view that Miracle grow soil allows a grower to achieve about80- 85%of any given plants optimum growth potential. In other words when 2 clones grown side by side, one in MG and one in optimal organic soil, the plant grown in the optimal soil will be 15% larger with a 15% greater yield than the clone grown in MG growth Perhaps 1' in height and 2- 3 ozs of smoke per plant. If you grow a large yielding strain, that trade off is worth it to me. But..... generally the soil in indiana is good cannabis soil. Wherever the corn grows big, so does cannabis. You aint got good dirt?
FFOF soil can be hot for seedlings. I would use it for the grow for sure. But find something else not so hot to start.
I use a proportion of 3/4 light warrior and 1/4 Ocean Forest with my seedlings, and have had good results. Not too much N that it burns them, but enough to keep them green and happy, feeding them just water for the first two weeks, then transplanting them into a container of just Ocean forest. I say if you are new with growing, go with Fox Farms gear, it may be a little expensive, but it will take out a lot of the guess work and your ladies will reward you come September. You likely would not regret the investment.
I use 50/50 light warrior and happy frog + perlite.. lots of perlite helps prevent overwatering babies..
Yep lots of Perlite. I use 30% in my mix. This works great for backyard but would be a bitch in the bush with this much perlite.
