I think most of the latest LEDs are very similar to each other, and you won't go wrong with any of them. For me there are other considerations besides getting the most watts per dollar. I wan't happy feelings when I open my tent and see the light. I think those DIY COBs and QBs are ugly with all those weird heat sinks and wired DC power supplies. I recently got the 300 Watt Electric Sky light. (There are $50 off coupons everywhere.) It's in the same efficiency ballpark as all the others mentioned, is plug and play, and much prettier than most of the others. I have another tent with 3*QBs+1*COB connected to aluminum rails, with their associated wires and power supplies, and I don't get the same good feelings when I open that tent. But aesthetics are more expensive.
Performance above aesthetics and Samsung diodes are top dog. There’s a reason everyone is chasing HLG.
Check out qb grows on here! I was all over the board on what to get and was looking at those until I got on GC. Now I have 4 x qb288
I totally get what you're saying. My 4 4foot t5's give that same minimalistic aesthetic; and i bet the electric sky looks even sexier. Just wasn't really down to drop $650+ on it when i can get the same or better performance for much cheaper. 2 engines : $210.35 1 driver: 142.22 =480watts . Miscellaneous parts i have minus aluminum angle. Plus, I studied at the Finest Art Institutes and Universities of the Bavarian Alps of Vienna, I've been geeking out on how to make a sexy Aluminum Angle rig with all wires tucked in. I love the heat sinks too, they give out a mid-century Herman Miller meets H.R. Giger feeling/atmosphere.
Having some Issues with Connecting the Drivers in Series. It wont Turn ON. But i do hear a click once i connect to wall. However, when i connect a single one directly to the driver, it turns on. Both of them. Also, first time I had to pull a wire out, the connector chipped off. Not sure if this is causing an issue, but i doubt it since it is still lighting up. It's been a long day. And im at my wits end trying to figure this out.
Only thing I can think of is maybe the white wire u connect neg to pos, the ends u don’t have long enough to reach the contact points
Another thing, when u had it hooked in series did u gently try to wiggle the wire close to connector? I ask bc in pic in series the white wire comes out of connection and goes to side. When u have it hook each alone they come straight out. Maybe u called it with the “ALREADY broke” connector piece
For shits and giggles check ur adjusters and make sure they ain’t all the way down. That shouldn’t matter tho
I did notice it goes off to the side, but it's still hooked up in there pretty tight. i still have to put some muscle into it so i can pull it out.
