In the market for a used luxuary car...

Discussion in 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' started by FlightSchool, Feb 8, 2011.

  1. Looking for a used luxuary car. My price range is between 10-20k. Ive been looking at infinity G35's. See some 06's in my area w/ 55k going for around 16,000. Anyone have any suggestions or input or experience on infiniti's? Thanks

  2. One of my buddies has one, I've taken it for a drive a few times. If your just looking for a Luxury car your probably going to be unimpressed with Infinity's interior. It's nothing special for a luxury car Imo. But if you want a quick sporty one go for it. Oh and my buddy said the G35 coupes (he has) is almost the same exact weight as the G35 4-doors. Who knew?

  3. Don't go infinity it's a japanese car. Never buy jap cars especially luxury cuz they have no clue what they are doing. Go german you can easily find a used bimmer for $20,000. I have friends who can sell luxury cars for cheaper prices if you in the soflo area.

  4. Truetrue, to be honest im not sure how i feel about beamers. I feel like when it comes to them you need to go big or dont get it at all. I wantma car that looks sporty, leather interior but im not to concerned of it being the fasted car around considering i would probably get an automatic.
Any other ideas? I really like the looks of the G35 but if there made shitty then i dont wamt any part of it. How about lexus's? Any models people really like or own?

  5. oh o, here we go again. Man you must like a connoisseur of luxury cars.

  6. Well OP, if you don't care about repair cost, get a German luxury car. That's the only issue I have with German cars.

  7. Yeah im not looking for a car thats going to be and arm and a leg to repair. I want a car that is pretty reliable, and sporty. Not so much in for performance to be honest.

  8. Lexus ls, Toyota Avalon, Infiniti M45/Q45, Cadillac CTS/STS. Heck even the new Hyundai Genesis is considered mid-size luxury

  9. This. BMW's after 70-100k miles are a MONEY PIT, my parents have owned 5. If you go with a german car like vw, audi, mercedes, etc.. Find a diesel with low miles, non turbo'd. Every person I know who owns a japanese car (including myself) have had good experiences with them. OP, are you looking into 2 doors or 4?

  10. PHP:
2 door or 4 dosent really make a whole lot of difference to me

  11. What lexus LS? All of em nice? I see alot of different models.

  12. Stay away from lexus or you will regret it. If you don't like bimmer may I suggest Audi? You could also go cadilac the cts is super nice.

  13. lol cool story bro

i've owned two bimmers, both bought with >200k and neither were/are money pits.

  14. Audi is the best choice.

Haha, Anywho, what I think Tokes is trying to say is that you will get a lemon in every bunch, Bimmers and Audi's included.

Clearly OP said he doesn't want a car that will cost him an arm and a leg to repair, so im gonna assume German cars are out of the question, unless you guys have direct connections to German parts and can help this man out when his car breaks down.

Check out this review of the Lexus ls, o and i personally like the look from 1996 and up.

    Here ya go

  16. its as simple as not going to the stealership for parts, at least, that's my secret.

take this recent repair for instance: i needed a new taillight, a new one from a parts supplier or direct from the factory was ~$200. i used an online forum dedicated to bmws and their owners (after finding no late model e30's at the "local" junkyards) to source a used one for $40, shipped to my door.

  17. How ya know someone is gonna be selling the exact part op is looking for at the exact time he needs it?. Taillights and cosmetics are not that bad, when you get into mechanical and electronic parts, thats when you wish you had deep pockets.

  18. someone, somewhere will be selling almost any part, especially if the car he buys has any sort of following.

and if they're not, visit a junkyard. if they don't have it, call the stealership.

are you just gonna sit back and tell me this doesn't work? 'cause it works fine for me.

HOPEFULLY someone will be selling the part, then you actually have to hunt the part down, bargain with the guy, then wait for shipping(the part is usually used) What IF OP drives for a living.

Do you go to junkyard for suspension and steering components as well? if you do then you are a brave fella. I personally would only go to the junkyard for cosmetic parts.

From my experience, when it comes to German cars, the aftermarket parts aren't good quality. You'll change an aftermarket part 3 times vs changing the same part 1 time if bought from a dealer.

However, every mechanically inclined male knows to only goes to the dealer for certain parts.

  20. I would check out the e46 M3 bimmer.

Any luxury car you purchase is going to cost you more to fix than a normal car.

Honestly, why not check out the Civic/Insight or a Scion?
