important simple question!!

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by fyse0, Oct 7, 2007.

  1. I am growing in a simple cabinet similar to this one here

I am buying or making a carbon filter similar to this one here or possibly one at that wurm website? I forget the address, it's $10 cheaper but you gotta get the fan.

My question: Will this filter 100% eliminate any obtrusive odors, assuming it needs to protect from the stench of 2-3 ladies in full flower??

I have experience with growing but not hiding odor and although I've heard of carbon filters and success..... Pot Reeks.:ey:

So any of you used this one, a similar one, one you've built or reccomend as better. I'd like to be able to open the window near the cabinet in question to control temperature a bit, I'd like to not have to burn candles 24/7. Don't get me wrong I can smoke a blunt in the same room, with the window open or not, without fear but a pot plant is different kind of obtrusive smell.

  2. i dont think your problem is going to be so much does it get the smell out, as much as it will be does it get the HOT air out enough..... stench reduction is plenty important, but with cabnit growing, maintaining good cool conditions is more important..... are the fans going to be mounted in or outside of the box... let me know that and ill give some examples of good solutions... plus if you can give pictures if at all posible of your presumed set up... it would help...

Edit: and let us know what lights your using too please

  3. As of right now I have 5200 lumens out of 4 6000k CFL bulbs from home depot. I'm getting another Y socket to turn it into a single lamp for space sake once this moves into a box..

I'm gonna add a 125 W cfl as well. I've found this incredible deal, and I'm tentative to even post it because you're all gonna buy em' up! But this deal for one 125W blue spectrum & a 80W Warm spectrum.. This'll be a nice kick to add for veg. I'll keep the 80W out til flower & swap for some 42w Warm CFL's for 8000 Lumens in flower..

I'm not too worried about the ventilation. I'm gonna drill some holes, and put a 12" fan blowing on the holes (so it's not too hard) I'm going to have the carbon scrubber inside which moves alot of air as well as a decent fan 4" inside the box, not pc fan a 12v silent mini fan w/ a normal plug.

I'm blessed by living in a climate that is freaking cold. I'm gonna delay turning on the heater by keeping the windows shut as long as I can - even then I dont run it unless I'm home. 9000ft altitude though and as long as my odor is down enough that I can crack a nearby window - it will more than compensate for the heat of the cabinet.

Total wattage I plan on using:
    125w CFL 6000k
    4x 27watt CFL 6000k

Total of ~12-13000 lumens for veg

After 12/12 kicks in I want to keep the 125 W CFL, swap to 4x 2700k's of the same size for the same fixture, and add an 80w 2700k CFL

total of ~450ish watts with about 22,000 (ish) lumens for flower.

I'm going to be LST'ing like hell :hello::hello:

So as far as odor, that scrubber should cover me, with 2-3 ladies in full flower??

The big 125W bulb is gonna be used in-between the seedlings to control height. It's easy to rig these guys up to move with plants and control stretch. Te x4CFL fixture mounted unobtrusively and out of the way. I havent actually obtained the box in question. Theres quite a few on craigslist and plenty at walmart.. just trying to save money.. and the box isnt necessary until 12/12 - where I'm more worried about odor. The lights will be doing more for keeping the plants warm than making them too hot (if all goes according to the grand masterplan that is)

  4. Up to two simply questions. lol

These bulbs (incredible deal seemingly), are E27 Type screw. Wikipedia has led me to believe it will fit in E26 Sockets like are standard??
