rep isn't that important. You would be better off getting it by contributing to the gc community. My 2 cents.
It would be funny if we could still give out negative rep like the old days. If you contribute to the city and become well known your rep will increase quickly. You only need about 1000 points to get the full bar if I remember correctly.
Would be appropriate at times... Yes...contributing to the community in a positive manner is the best way to accumulate rep... Full bar at 1500 points, but the sayings keep changing until you hit the last one at 10,000... OP...don't concern yourself with rep...it'll soon be a moot point anyways...
