The Secessionist Campaign for the Republic of Vermont I <3 Naylor I wonder what the response to this will be, seeing as Vermont isn't racist by default like Texas is.
I already want to move to Vermont, it's the ballinest state from what I've seen. First socialist senator
I think it's cool these guys are out there using this kind of rhetoric, since it has a lot of potential to draw together a radical movement that transcends left and right. But I also have to question the wisdom of taking the electoral approach to try to defy the empire. Groups like this and the Free State Project would do better to go underground and begin building the institutions of a free future.
The secessionists have been around for a few years. I'm all for it, as long as they make immigrating here REALLY difficult. I have the book around here somewhere (it's pretty funny)... Amazon.com: Out! The Vermont Secession Book (9780933050525): Frank M. Bryan, Bill Mares, Jeff Danziger: Books
Oh nos but what about the maple syrups! Seriously, there are nutbags like this in every state. I dont think it means the union is falling apart. funny post though.
There are so many things to consider, its hard to keep track of all them. It would be very interesting to see something like this happen.
What's wrong with secession? Am I really a nutbag for not wanting to be associated with your corrupt government? Texas is the 15th largest economy in the world, I think they'd have a much harder time seceding peacefully.
We also have one of the largest military bases in the world, I believe. Fort Hood. Secession has been a big issue in Texas this past year and now in the present, however. There's been a lot of secessionist talk and activism lately, especially with the Governor elections.
It would take some time for these folks to get the political power needed to remove themselves from the Union (governorship, majorities in the state house and senate). So, we would know in advance it is coming. However, I would assert that the US currently lacks the political will to force a state to remain in the Union, if it came to that.
But this is how I would change the whole, by breaking it up into parts. The power in this "union" is way too centralized. History.
You really think so?? I can just imagine how the media news would portray this in opposition to Vermont. Hmm. I mean say they did ..even though everyone is sorta like, "well, who cares about syrup" . It would send a message expressing the weakness or inadequacy the ..gov't is ..lol Hmm, ionno. It's a cool idea but I guess it all depends on their would-be future policies, etc.
