Im sick of watching these damn commercials from the post a few down about above the influence from some big corporation with no proof just name calling. Im sick of health class telling kids how weed can kill them and all this nonesense. And im sick of hearing people dieing from numerous legal and lethal drugs while marijuana is still schedule I with heroine, and cocaine is a schedule below and so deemed less of a threat. I am going to do what I can to get some word out, and the best I can do with my very limited power and money is to make a 10~ min flash presentation. Now ive come across a lot of good facts and points, and wil continue searching and finding good things to try and make this thing hit home, and hopefully it can be spread around the internet, in a sort of tv commercial way without spending a million. Anyways there is no better resource then everyone here combined, so please, what I'm asking is for everyone to post points, facts, stats, counterpoints to the media's lies and bias. Just post them all here, just anything you got and hopefully we can sway some minds. Thanks, and I'm going to be taking this serious.

Marijuana is not a Drug \tIt becomes annoying when I constantly hear ads from places like "Partnership for a Drug Free America" running commercials against Pot that just aren't true. I don't like it when people warn teens about using "Marijuana and Cocaine" when Pot is almost harmless and Cocaine is a dangerous drug. When people lie to teens about Marijuana then teens assume they are lying about other drugs too and I think they are more likely to do drugs they shouldn't do. I think it's wrong for society to lie to teenagers about smoking marijuana. \tMarijuana is the safest of all drugs. It is far safer to smoke a joint than to have a beer. Marijuana makes most people more relaxed. It relieves the clutter and tension after a hard days work or school. It can mellow you out and make you more relaxed. It heightens the imagination and improves creativity. If you have a problem with anger, Pot is usually a good drug to reduce it. Marijuana has other medical benefits. For example, it helps reduce problems with glaucoma. If you have cancer, it can reduce nausea from chemotherapy. My brother has a blood cancer called Chronic Myloid Leukemia. So why will the government not help him? The medication he takes ruins his appetite and has a nauseating effect on him. With medical marijuana those problems can be cured. Marijuana is also safer, more effective, and has fewer side effects than many prescription anti-depressants. However, these drugs are over prescribed and in many cases an occasional joint is a better alternative to anti-depressant drugs. \tMany myths have been created about marijuana including the idea that it is a “gateway” drug. If there is anything that's a gateway drug, it's nicotine. Tobacco is the first drug that kids use. I was addicted to cigarettes. It is hard for me to believe something as addictive and harmful as cigarettes is legal yet marijuana, a medicine that can cure our disease ridden world, is illegal. Once a kid is hooked on nicotine they have joined the ranks of drug addicts. As an addict already it's easier for them to move on to other addictive drugs like Alcohol, Cocaine, Crack, Meth, and Heroine. Another common myth is, "there is no official proof to back the contention that marijuana can help ease symptoms of AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis and other serious diseases." But the reason there is no proof is that the US government is actively avoiding the funding of medical research into medical uses of Marijuana because they are afraid that they will indeed discover what doctors already know and it would undermine the laws criminalizing Marijuana and lead to legalization. Researchers in other countries including the Italy have found that “non-psychoactive compounds in marijuana inhibited the growth of glioma cells in a dose dependent manner and selectively targeted and killed malignant cancer cells.” While other countries are finding out these helpful secrets why would the US continue to outlaw such a medicine? They claim that smoked Marijuana damages the brain, heart, lungs and immune system, but they don't know that. If the government wants to make medical claims about Pot they should test it and look at the scientific data. \tI believe that federal policy that prohibits physicians from reducing suffering by prescribing marijuana for patients is misguided, heavy-handed, and inhumane. It is time that a marijuana policy is adopted recognizing a distinction between use and abuse. In my opinion, and call me a defeatist or "negative nancy" but I really don't see the views on marijuana changing. It's been burned into millions of people's minds that it's bad. Just laugh at the stupid ass commercials. We know they aren't true, the people who make them know it isn't true. It's the little kids that are watching it that don't know it isn't true. A good idea would be to start an organization "Below the Influence" (instead of above. See what I did there???! ) and do exactly the opposite of what they do. Instead of saying "It's bad, you'll die", you could actually put facts comparing Pot, Booze, and Cigarettes and let the facts speak for themselves. I'm just rambling, but yeah...I live below the influence and I plan to stay here for a while~

Dude don't bother, the teacher is just going to give you a failing grade and most likely report you to the principal. Why risk your education for something as silly as marijuana. You know the dangers of weed, you don't have to try and convert your teachers, you will just be frowned upon.
I disagree. When I was a senior in Highschool I wrote a 10 page research paper on the Legalization of marijuana. I was not frowned upon at all and ended up getting a B+ on it.
So long as his essay follows the guidelines the teacher set, then they legally can't fail him. They may disagree with his opinion, or frown upon him, but they can't retaliate - so long as the essay follows the teacher's set guidlines and whatnot.
last year i wrote an essay on how steroids help people and should be legalize for a term paper and got a perfect score. i dont do steroids but hey with all the Baseball shit goin down it seemed like a good research project.
I wrote a speech for my senior class: Speech about the legalization of marijuana, i had some bob marley background music, and I passed that class with flying colors. I think maybe my teacher toked up back in the day, but im not sure.
Here's what I have to say about the subject, I wrote it in a different forum earlier today. I have lost all hope in the US government. Why they have a vandetta against pot smokers I have no idea. It all started back in the 30's with propaganda movies like Reefer Madness, which gave the idea that people who smoke weed go insane and start raping and killing women. Jimmy Carter, who, if elected for a second term would have gotten weed legalized, but that was out the window when Reagen came to office. when the medical marijuana bill was brought to the supreme court last year, there as a little more hope but that hope was stomped out when they ruled that there was no evidence that weed had any medical benefits. No medical benefits!? Its not about what the scientists say the medical benefits on your body are, its about making people comfortable enough in their minds to be able to function. It helps people with AIDS eat and it counter acts their nausea, its an extremely effective pain reliever, its a safe, non addictive alternative to sleeping pills for insomniacs, it helps people with anxiety problems relax, it just makes you feel better no matter whats wrong with you. How can the scientists possibly justify that it has no benefits when thousands of people need it just so they can function in their day to day lives. Instead of worrying about helping people, all our government is worried about is jailing the people who use it. There are more people in prison for drug offenses than all violent crimes combined, including rape, murder, man slaughter, arson, and feloneous assault, and 70% of those jailed for drug offenses are marijuana offenses. Also, on average, people in prison for selling drugs spend more time in their than rapists! Our government doesnt have a fucking clue what is best for us, they are throwing our tax money away on imprisoning non violent "criminals". Yes I agree our nation has a drug problem, but marijuana is not a drug, its a fucking plant that grows naturally in nature, its not refined or concentrated like opium or cocaine, it is simply dried and smoked, just like something i know of that kills hundreds of thousands of people every year, tobacco. Oh and by the way, it doesnt have any rat poison in it. Weed is less addictive than coffee, it has never killed anyone, and its not a fucking gateway drug, its simply a step on the ladder that starts with, for most people, alcohol and/or ciggerettes. We arent criminals, we arent harming anybody by getting high, all we want is to be left alone so we can get stoned with out worrying about going to jail. Fuck the US government! Fuck congress, fuck the supreme court, fuck the police and most of all.... FUCK GEORGE BUSH!!!!!!!! (i just had to add that) Sorry I didnt intead to write an essay, I guess i got a little carried away.

Ummm, well, if you are in fact 18 you would know how to properly cite in text quotes, because if you simply copied and pasted them and didn't give them any attribution in the text and only gave a list of web sites at the end, you should automatically fail.
