I've been reading GC for months, and finally made an account and don't know how to work it!! I feel like I'm better at watching from afar

Haha some dudes definitely manage it around here sometimes. Not that many though, that's why I love the city. Most forums are filled with pricks.
Honestly dude if you're not sure about something just pm a blade who's been here for awhile. Most could walk you through things without looking at the site. As for posts just contribute, be open minded, be aware of the rules, and you'll do just great around here.

Its simple really... click, type, back button. and repeat. or just click, scroll, back button. If you're worried about trying to customize your profile just don't worry about it... +rep is the button on the top right hand corner by the #'s on every post. to edit a signature go to your 'User CP' and click 'edit signature' I can see you know how to change an avatar. but yeah...you'll get used to it.
