Hey Guys, as a soon to be self sufficient man after giving up chasing around like an idiot I have the green light of the other half to get started. I've never done a grow before though I've studies plant biology in some depth and understand the requirements of our beloved plants I am a DIY dork! I've got disused clothes cabinet that has dimensions of 30"w x 17"d x 57"h internally. I am looking to do 2no plants under a 250watt air cooled light with carbon filters and fans etc. I am really looking for as much advice as possible and even a plan to follow to construct the cabinet. I just really want to make sure its right from the start and I can then concentrate on producing the goods. Any info on design and plan would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks
Happyson - first, welcome to GC. Everybody has thier own methods, but I wanted to share this with you. Take a few moments to read these two threads and in the long run, I guarantee you'll be much happier with your results. Whichever method you end up choosing, good luck with your garden! http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/1116550-easy-organic-soil-mix-beginners.html http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-m...door-gardening-without-bottled-nutrients.html Have a nice day. j
Such a salesman Your heart is in the right place happyson ! Follow Jerry over to the organics section...one of the best decisions you'll make in your life...swear by it. Begin this research first, soil takes a good 3-5 weeks to nutrient cycle so it'll be ready by the time your rooms put together. In my opinion....
Because you are somewhat height restricted, you might want to do some looking around at LST and Scrog to keep your plants shorter.
Thanks for the info Jerry, This is going to be an adventure I am sure! This is exatly the type of growing I have been looking for, natures forces working into producing fine buds, can't think of anything sweeter. I will look into preparing a soil imminently but my big stumbling point is set up. I will post a diagram tomorrow and please anyone feel free to critique. One question would be what is the most efficient combo of fan and filter for a grow area of my size in respect of air flow, odour and quietness. This baby is going to be running in our bedroom so need to get the correct equipment! Thanks again
For that small of space of lighting I'd say a quality 4'' Inline fan and carbon scrubber will solve your ventilation/smell problem. Also gotta figure out where you're exhausting to.. You can also buy dampeners for inline fans that will help reduce sound.
If I was to vent through the filter straight into the room is it going to be really potent through flowering? the option of going into a chimney breast or up through ceiling into loft are possible but not ideal
Well once the air is passed through the carbon filter, the smell is eliminated. There would be no smell in the room, though now you have to deal with the heat its exhausting...building an ambient temperature outside of the tent will only raise the temps inside too. With 250 Watts, its not alot of heat all, but still something to think about.
